Losing weight during pregnancy

Hiya - I am now 26 weeks but only found out I was pregnant 4 weeks ago. No symptoms or anything - lucky me! Plus before I found out I had lost a stone in weight.

I weighed myself on Saturday to find I had lost another 3lbs - my bump is definately growing mind you and the baby is healthy.

I fully expected to have put on about half a stone when I got the scales - I haven't been eating crap but not necessarily been a good girl either.

I know this must seem like the stupidest thing to be complaining about when people put on loads and would love to lose it - but am I being silly or have others experienced this too?

I lost weight in my first pregnancy. I was two stone lighter the day before DD was born than I was at the start of the pregnancy.

I am now 8 weeks pregnant and have lost 6.5lbs so far. I have no sickness. I think it is a combination of the fact that I am conscious of eating healthily and because I have PCOS. When I am pregnant my hormones are balanced so the weight gain caused by PCOS is reversed. (Just my own theory!)

Very envious that you only found out a few weeks ago. It must have been a shock but it makes for a shorter pregnancy! Good luck

I've lost 1st, 5lbs and I'm 20+2. Was very sick for the first few weeks, but am still losing about a pound a weeks (baby and bump expanding by the day though!).

I'm eating very low fat, lots of veg/fruit and lean protein as any thing fatty just sits in my gut and doesn't seem to digest - making me feel ill for hours.

My doctor husband is not in the least bit concerned as he said "you have plenty spare" .

Unless you are actually underweight I don't think you should be worried about it - so long as you are taking prenatal supplements to ensure you are getting vitamins, and make some effort to eat fairly healthy foods most of the time.

The baby will get the nutrients at your expense even if you are starving (which I hope you are not!!!)!

I was pleased to hear a comment the other night, that I was supposed to be gaining weight & not losing it. I am at 19 weeks on my 3rd pregnancy.

I too have PCOS & I think that my weight loss is due to the hormones working properly .

I also have PCOS - this seems to be a reoccuring factor!

I'm 31 weeks and just discovered that I've lost about 2lb in the last 3 weeks.
In the first trimester my weight stayed more or less steady, and in the second it started steadily but slowly rising. Now it seems it has started dropping in the third. I thought the third trimester is normally when you put on most weight?
