I am absolutely craving a nice cold beer in the evenings at the mo, and DH is doing my head in as he's just stocked up his beer fridge with countless bottles of Bud...

It's torture!

Thing is, I find drinks like appletiser and peartiser nice, but just too expensive to buy for home consumption. Add to that, I'm not a big fruit-juice drinker, and I'm not too keen on lemonade and similar, so...

What do you like to drink? (apart from water! ) Are there any half-way decent non-alcoholic beers around? (DH doesn't rate them, but I'm getting desperate!)

Becks do an alcohol free version which I drank when pregnant with DS (OK it's about 0.2% but I only had a couple of bottles at weekends). It tastes EXACTLY like original Becks.

Goober · 14/06/2010 13:33

Fruit juice lollies are lush and Del Monte orange juice lollies are on offer at Tesco for £1 at the mo.

Smoothies.

Fruit n barley.

Cranberry and raspberry juice.

WoodlandFairy · 14/06/2010 13:34

sparkling water, fresh mint, lime.

IPredictADiet · 14/06/2010 13:37

if you are a lager drinker, you might like soft brew from M&S. It's a bit apply and a bit hoppy, which I know sounds very wrong, but oddly, it works.

parkj83 · 14/06/2010 13:39

Oh yummy, that m&s drink sounds nice!

Havingkittens · 14/06/2010 13:46

That M&S drink sounds worth checking out. Thanks for that. I also love sparkling water and fresh lime, must go and pick some mint from my garden. Sounds like a mojito! By the way, did you know www.lono.com do a rum type drink with the alcohol removed so if you do like a mojito that might work.

If it's lager you miss though, there are at least 3 nice non alcoholic lagers you can get. The Becks one, which has been mentioned already. Cobra do quite a nice one and there's also one, which I think is my favorite so far, from Waitrose called Bavaria (inappropriately named as it comes from Holland!).

Hevster · 14/06/2010 13:47

Becks blue is good (and I am a big beer drinker when not pregnant) and ASDA have it on offer at the moment, 6 bottles for £2.50 not bad, don't bother with any of the other alcohol free beers though - they are pants!

storminabuttercup · 14/06/2010 13:47

i second the M&S soft brew - not the cheapest - but often included in their dine in meal

parkj83 · 14/06/2010 14:06

Haven't got a waitrose within a practical distance just to get drinks, so I think I'll have to give the baravia a miss.

The Becks is winning it so far, especially if ASDA has an offer on it, but I'll give the soft brew a go too

I've just looked at that LoNo site - wow! I love cocktails as well as lager, so I might be pilfering their stocks too lol

I like to make mocktails from stuff like bitterlemonade with raspberry juice and a slice of lime (lots of crushed ice), or ginger ale with lime, or craberry and elderflower - again, all with lots of ice and most definitely served in a wine glass! nPlay around with different combinations and stick an umbrella in

Rinnyx · 14/06/2010 15:51

I am loving elderflower, you can get a bottle for about £2.99 called green bottle I think, I got it in co op I think thats does up to 6.5 ltr, tastes great with cold water from the fridge
Tho I have told my friend to stock up on scholer for me at his wedding and put my name on it so others cant have it

goodlifemummy · 14/06/2010 16:06

Absolutely - green bottle elderflower cordial, or their elderflower and raspberry with soda water. Makes me burp a LOT, but better out than in!!

WillowM2B · 14/06/2010 16:47

I recommend the Becks Blue also - got it the other day £2.00 for 6 bottles from Sainsburys (for the football!) and was really pleasantly surprised. Delicious well chilled.

I personally am desperate for ice lollies I would really love some "cider" ones or "lager and lime" - all that seems to be about are orange

TheBride · 14/06/2010 18:02

Also a fan of Becks Blue.......or

A Gunner- Ginger ale, Ginger beer, fresh lime and angostura bitters

parkj83 · 14/06/2010 18:06

Just been to M&S, they're doing their citrus or blackcurrant soft brews, 2 packs of 4 for £6, normally £3.99 each.

Annoyingly, the apple one isn't in that offer, and that's all my local one had left, but hey ho, will try it anyway.

Rinnyx · 14/06/2010 19:45

Oh my bad its called bottle green not green bottle

thislittlesisterlola · 14/06/2010 19:55

sainsburys have the becks on offer 6 for £2. Makes a good shandy too.

biggest · 14/06/2010 20:04

Anything with cold sparkling water. Having a cranberry juice at the minute and it is really refreshing. I find I crave the fizziness more than anything!

biggest · 14/06/2010 20:10

ANd the bottle green elderflower and pomegranate is yum. Not the same as corona and lime though

FourEyesGood · 14/06/2010 20:11

I've been having gallons of blackcurrant with soda water and lots of ice lately (which is usually my pub drink when I'm driving). Very refreshing!

xMrsSx · 14/06/2010 21:36

Kroppenberg Non-alcoholic pear cider.

willow Could always make your own lollies out of it???

giddywithglee · 15/06/2010 09:08

completely agree on the Becks Blue. Cobra do a non-alc one too but it's quite sweet.
I've been drinking virgin marys (can only drink so many before start feeling a bit tomatoed-out and grapefruit with tonic water (sounds weird but it works).
