34 wks this week and on second run of antibiotics for another UTI. Is there anything I can do to help recovery/stop it happening again or is it just (groan) one of those things?

Drink absolutely loads of water and rest if you can. Then when this one's cleared up you can try cranberry capsules to help prevent another. I think for some of us it is just one of those things, I've had 4 so far. Good that you are getting it treated.

oh and go for a wee often, don't let your bladder get full

Ugh feeling worse this evening - dizzy and hot. Hope it hasn't spread, I have taken 2 antibs already so praying they kick in soon. Not fair!

Probiotics? The capsules not the drinks.

biggest Feel for you. I'm on my 3rd UTI of this pregnancy and the 3rd UTI in my life. Had dd 10 years ago with no problems. Don't know why i'm getting them with this one. Unfortunately i have experienced thrush after the 1st two UTI's. (currently on my 3rd day of medication with my 3rd uti) So thinking i can expect my 3rd bout of thrush any day soon! ARGH.

I used to be really prone to UTI's, one time it even spread onto my kidneys I know how horrible they are.
Now what seems to keep them at bay is drinking a (small) carton of cranberry juice every day. I got some from M&S in town the other day; 2 packs of 3 for £3. Ever since I've done this, I've not had a thing. I swear down it works. Also, if you live in a hard water area it definately helps if you get a water filter (i think it helps anyway). Touch wood, not had any sign of anything for about a year now.

Take care of yourself and try to get lots and lots of rest if you can biggest. I'm glad you have abs - it's so important to keep on top of these infections. I had terrible utis in my pregnancy with ds2 and left them untreated thinking it was all perfectly normal. I struggled on and did nothing and in the end (at 35 weeks) the infection irritated my womb lining and I haemorraghed(sp) and he was born prematurely.

Lots of fluids and lots of wees.

Good luck.
