Want to rant about Babies R Us

I'm posting this to be spiteful to Babies R US. And I'm going to blame me being this petty on hormones!!

Bought a car seat and furniture there about 2 weeks ago.
Found same maxi-cosi car seat on Tesco website for 25pounds cheaper so wanted to get from there instead.

Tried to take the carseat back to B'R'US today and they would not give us a refund. My big bump must indicate it hasn't been needed yet and the box was obviously untouched/unopened. We had the receipt.
The rude manager plonked a plastic sign in front of us with the refund policy on it saying that they will not refund ANYTHING unless it is faulty.

I'm annoyed not so much about the policy, but how we were treated.

I think that if this is the policy it should be made obvious when purchasing items.

I also wanted to make you all aware!!

Did it not say it on the receipt?

Could it be maybe due to safety that they can't resell such equipment?
Maybe the manager should have been less rude and explained why though. :-(

Nothing on the receipt, nothing in their catalogue, nothing on their display.

The only place it is mentioned is at their customer service desk.

I actually understand it if its due to safety of equipment e.g. car seats and mattresses. Just think they should make it clear.
I bought dog clippers from Argos recently and both at the point of ordering and at collection the customer assistants confirmed with me that I knew this item was non-refundable due to hygiene issues, which I thought was good customer service.
