I was previously taking 30mg and was 'normal'. When I found out I was pregnant, I took medical advice and went down to 20mg. I now feel anxious about EVERTHING in my life and am struggling to function normally. I'm wondering if how I feel is normal or if it is just lack of citalopram/withdrawal.Anyone have any thoughts?

So sorry you are feeling like this. I took citalopram a few years a go and when I came off them the only symptoms I got were a bit of dizzyness, so may be the anxiety is hormone related. I wasn't on any meds when I was pg with my 2 DCs, but I know that I went from feeling 'normal' to total state of anxiety for the first few weeks! All those hormones rushing around your system, plus I found that even though they were planned and we'd been TTC for months and months I was in total shock! It took a good couple of months to sink in!! After that I was more or less back to my old self.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to discuss this with your GP and see if they thing any other meds would be more beneficial while you are pg. Hopefully it is hormonal and once things start to settle down you'll begin to feel more like your old self again!

Hi ladyopheliastar, I'm currently on citalopram 20mg and my doctor is happy for me to stay on them, and said of iwanted to try and wean off of them do after 3 months as hormones go a tad mental in the forst 3 months.

I have been on here sooooo many times asking about pregnancy and citalopram and got so much support all the ladies that have taken it had no problems some on 60mg!!

As for the withdrawal you symptoms sound exactly like it, there horrible, and of i wean off them it will be very very slowly literally nipping a bit of the tablets every couple of weeks.

good luck
