Hello. I've posted a couple of threads before but today I was wondering, did anybody else take ages to get their bump?

I'm 26 weeks pregnant & nobody can tell. At all my midwife appointments, there have been women there who are at the exact same stage as me who are waddling along with gorgeous bumps, but I just look the same as I always did, it's very dissapointing. I have a friend who's pregnant too, we're both on our first babies but she's 4 weeks behind me & she can rest things on her bump already!

Everybody keeps saying "just wait, it'll happen," but everybodys been saying that to me since I was 15 weeks & still nothing. I know he's in there because I feel him kicking & moving but it's starting to get me down when people keep looking at me like they can't decide whether I'm pregnant or just fat. I had my 25 weeks appointment last week & the midwife said I'm measuring fine but I'd love to have a bump & look radiant & beautiful but I'm beginning to wonder if it's going to happen at all!

Did anybody else take ages to show? It'd be good to know I'm not the only one!

Be careful what you wish for! I was the same and then I got massive. It was very uncomfortable and I deply regretted hankering for a bump. No bump is much better then a beach ball.

With my first People still didn't realise I was PG when I left on maternity leave at 36weeks but I did get a bump at about 32 weeks. I never got to the 'I wish this baby would arrive, I feel huge' stage. BUT beware pregnancy number 2!!

JamieJay · 13/06/2010 15:08

Me - didn't start wearing maternity jeans until 26/27 weeks having been stuck in 'ate too much cake' phase until then.

Am 33 weeks now and still not got a big bump, if wearing something baggy I can pass as not pregnant, able to sleep however I want and no difficulty getting up off the floor etc.

However my bump has pretty much doubled in size in the last 4 weeks and is growing almost daily so it will catch up with you!

I know what you mean about wanting to look pregnancy but not having the physical limitations of a huge bump is a blessing, especially when it's warm

I'm 31 weeks - I've had a definite bump for about 5-6 weeks, but it's only in the last week or two that people have started noticing. Must say I'm grateful - I've enjoyed being able to feel normal at work for as long as possible.

With DD I went to my 20 weeks scan and the sonographer kept asking if I was sure I was 20 weeks as I had no bump (soon changed her tune when she saw the baby on the scan, though!!) I started to show properly at about 7 months and in the end put on 3 and a half stone!

With DS I was the same, hardly anything until about 25 weeks, then it all seemed to grow at once. Again put on 3 stone ( was induced at 38 weeks so didn't have the opportunity to gain the extra half stone of hoola hoops baby weight!!)

I think it depends on lots of factors such as how the baby is lying, how long in the torso you are (I'm quite tall, so I probably had a bit more room for the baby to grow before my tummy had to pop outwards!) so don't worry, before you know it you'll have a lovely big bump and be complaining about how you are constantly dropping things on the floor and can't bend down to pick them up! Enjoy!!!

I had a friend who didn't get a bump until her third pregnancy. It used to bother her as well that no-one could tell but unfortunately there is nothing you can do about it. Fingers crossed it will appear later and the good thing being you can't get fed up of being big for so long. I know it really bothered my friend so hopefully yours will appear soon

I'm 33 weeks and been very small with all of mine. Got a growth scan on wed because the midwife says I'm measuring small but can guarantee the baby will be fine. I'm getting fed up with the concerned 'oh aren't you tiny' comments

watersprite · 13/06/2010 21:11

Hi,

In my first pregnancy I didn't show till I was 7 mths and only gained a stone throughout my pregnancy. However this time round I started to show stright away and at 15 weeks people kept saying to me not long to go now!

I will be 25 weeks tomorrow and I'm waddling like a duck and it's very uncomfortable to sleep at night. I would say enjoy why you can x

cinnamongreyhound · 14/06/2010 08:05

I was the same in my first pregnancy and didn't really mind as I'm quite a private person and hate it when everyone touches you when pregnant but I did get fed up of the people who did know asking me silly questions, the worst 'are you sure the baby's growing ok'!!

This time around I'm the same, was in normal clothes at 20 week scan and if the tops are long ones I can still wear them at almost 29 weeks. Getting the same comments now, where are you hiding your baby etc and as DH doesn't want anymore I know this will be the last time I'm pregnant so it would be nice to have a proper bump to rub! I just look fat at the moment and really want a sign saying I'm not fat just pregnant, saying that I am measuring 2 weeks over already so he must be in there and moves around all day.

You will get a bump and as others have said probably still be fed up by the end of 40+ weeks so try to enjoy a bit more of a private pregnancy!

Harimo · 14/06/2010 08:16

I didn't really show at all with DS (my first). 4 weeks off the birth, I was still trying to convince people I was PG.

No. 2 (DD) was different, but I still didn't have a bump until about 30 weeks.

Tis a blessing, I think!

Raahh · 14/06/2010 08:26

Lucky, lucky you! DC3, 24 weeks, and was asked before the school hols by one of the mums if she could expect to see the baby when the dc went back to school. Am not due til October! I am only 4ft 8, so look like a weeble.

But in pg1- I didn't show til 7 months. I was desperate for a bump. Soon regretted it!!

WillowM2B · 14/06/2010 09:51

I had no bump whatsoever with DC1 until 28-30 weeks (got really really pissed off with "are you sure you are pregnant?" comments at work ) Went on maternity leave around 31 weeks and blew up like a balloon overnight!

Am now 36 weeks with DC3 - This time around have been in maternity wear since 14 weeks

tablefor3 · 14/06/2010 12:26

Another slow-grower here (and for second pregnancy too).

I know this won't help, but it some ways it is nicer being your regular size and not having a huge bump. And besides, you will get a bump in the end and probably regret wishing for it earlier! At least, that's what I tell myself when I find myself picking up my maternity wear (which will still be too big) now I'm 21 weeks.

porcamiseria · 14/06/2010 13:54

well I went to see my friend who is same as me and whereas I look fit to bust, she looks like she had slightly too many pies. She was quite annoyed at my big bump, and I felt like a fat mama! its all normal....

lenga01 · 14/06/2010 13:57

With my first I didn't show until about 30 weeks and even then it was a very small bump. Now however I am 26 weeks and feel massive! I started to show with this one when I was about 16 weeks.
