Currently 34+2 with DS2 and my hair is FANTASTIC!

However, about 9 months after the birth of DS1 3 years ago my hair started to fall out and thin. It was awful. I know there is supposed to be some hair thinning but I am not exaggerating, about 2/3 of my hair fell out.
And it stayed thin, lank and limp until about 3 months into this pg. No matter what I did. I took multivitamins, rubbed olive oil in ( which made it look somewhat shiny but nothing else) used thickening shampoos. Etc.

So this time I want to be ready. Bar staying pg for the rest of my life or breastfeeding forever is there anything I can start to do now that will prevent or at least minimise the hairloss?

I know people have much more serious issues to discuss but any tips would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi my hair has thinned so much it looks awfull. I shall watch this thread with interest. I was reccomended the supliment - Kelp and Spirulina. If I could remember to take it every day I might have seen some results!

Loads of mine fell out too, I'm now at the curly grow back and stick out all over phase, not a good look.

B vitamins and Biotin, and ensure you are eating plenty of protein when BFing. Hair is a protein. You should consume 71 grams of protein daily.

I have also been recommended Zinc supplements.

Might be worth getting your iron levels checked too and taking supplements for that if necessary. After the birth they're likely to be low, and I find my hair falls out in clumps when I'm heading for anaemic!

My hairdresser recommended maintaining a good regular cut and taking Evening Primrose Oil.
