estimated weights from scans

I had a scan at 30+1 because my fundal height was ahead (it was measuring about 4 or 5 weeks ahead). They estimated the baby to weight around 3 pounds 5.I know they can be very inaccurate but I just wondered if anyone else had a scan at this time how big did they estimate it! I am starting to get worried because everytime they feel the baby they comment on how large the baby is!. I have had fairly normal or small babies before now at 7 pounds 6, 5 pounds 8 and 6 pounds 12 so I dont fancy having to give birth to a huge one!.

I had loads of scans this time, eight in total as I kept measuring large.

I had a scan 2 days before my due date and the estimated weight was 9lb 8oz.
DS was born a few days later at 10lb 6oz.

They did say the arms and legs were off the charts which was right as he is very very long.In fact his height is way above the top centile.

Both me and my partner are tall though so it wasn't a hug shock, plus his older sister was 9lb 5oz so I knew he wasn't going to be a 6lber.

Pah, they told me first baby was on 98th percentile at my 34 week scan - gonna be a whopper. Consultants and MW all came up with different reasons why I didn't look or measure that big. So then, of course, baby was born at 39 weeks gestation, and only on 9th percentile. They haven't a clue honestly.

I would trust a palpitation conclusion of "That's a big baby" more than I would trust the scan to get it right.

I have checked my notes and my fundal height is now 36 (I am 32 weeks) and I have had multiple people feeling the baby say it is a large one with the scan on top of that - maybe I should pack a few bigger clothes in my hospital bag just in case. My last two were in early baby clothes lol.

Yep I have a 95%er at that point - he was 25% percentile at birth though.

They told me at my 31w scan that DS1 was already weighing in at 7lb 9oz! He was born at 38w and was a wopper at 10lb 8oz.

But for every person they estimate right there's someone they got completely wrong!
