Pain at 20 weeks and worried, can anyone help?

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone can help me? I've had an episode of bleeding this week which resulted in me getting diagnosed with a low lying placenta. It was a small bleed but none the less worrying.

I've also had a lot of sharp shooting pains up and down my tummy as well in the last week or so. I assumed they were round ligament pains.

Now this morning, I've had a lot of sharp pains once again mostly around my groin and my uterus area. They feel really sharp and I feel like I've been kicked in the groin. They're actually really bad and I kinda feel like crying. They're around my lower tummy, hips and I've got a little bit of backache (although this could be due to my bad posture). I also went for a number two (I'm sorry if TMI) earlier this morning and it really hurt to go (well push it out so to speak). The pains sort of come and go, they're not dull crampy pains. They're really sharp, kind of like IBS spasms.

What should I do? Has anyone had this? I'm a little bit worried. Should I just go ahead and ring my midwife?

Hi, sorry you're having a rough time. I would ring, no point sitting at home stressing yourself out. Get it checked out. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi,
So sorry that you are having a rubbish time of it. I have had all sorts of twinges and aches and pains at various stages (am now 24 weeks). It's always passed and I've assumed it's just been things stretching and shifting. Have no experience of bleeding and a low lying placenta, so don't know if that could be contributing to your pains. But if you are worried and in pain then ring the midwife - that is what they are there for.
Good luck and hope you feel better X

Hi Hermya321. I am also 20 weeks pregnant. Actually going to my scan this afternoon so very nervous.

I would call the midwife I were you. It might be nothing but at least you can get that confirmed and be less stressed about it.
Good Luck.

Sorry to hear about this. I would definitely ring, if only to put your mind at rest. Good luck x

Thanks for that, I'll give them a ring then.

Did you get them? Its took me ages to get to this thread (bloody computer!) You had your scan yesterday didnt you so baby is probably fine but you arent (if thats any consolation!).

Not constipation or blockage or something like that is it?

Hermya321 · 09/06/2010 13:08

Yeah I spoke with them, they told me that it was probably ligaments stretching and that there was probably nothing to worry about.

It's not constipation (lots of orange juice) or blockage. I think it is my bump trying to break free so to speak.

If it carries on I'm going to go see the Doc and see what he says.

When I was 20 weeks ish with DS I had an awful episode of pain, could barely walk and was convinced I was losing baby. I was on holiday and had to go to a local hospital - all was fine and I never found out what it was. They suggested UTI, but it was not that. This time, I am also currently 20 weeks and had my scan on Monday, all is fine. At the weekend I passed a bloody clot, and have had blood-streaked discharge on and off for a few weeks. Again, there is no apparent reason for this, and although worrying for me, the baby is fine. What I am saying in a v long winded way, is that there are lots of things that happen that mean nothing and will not be explained.

Is it your first baby? They sound a lot like the ligament pains I had first time round - they were sometimes incredibly painful, and this time round I barely have them.
