GESTATIONAL DIABETES QUESTION?

Hi everyone,

I found out saturday that me and DH are exspecting our 3 rd baby

In my last pregnancy i had gestaional diabetes and i will need to have a early blood test to see if it has come back this time, but have to wait to see my midwife which is booked for 2 weeks time.

I went to see the gp today and she said just eat like i have got diabetes for the time being (as i controlled it myself with diet last time) obviously limit high sugar foods, more exercise etc.

Has anyone got any idea of foods to eat, i cant for the life of me remeber what i could eat

Thank you

My friend has it and was going through all the things she can and cannot eat last night. You are supposed to avoid bread and pasta but you can have small amounts of porridge and rice. Your diet should be based around lean meat and vegetables and fruit should be limited because of sugar in it. Am sure there is loads more if you google it.

Hello. Come and see us on the GD support thread - there's a lot of wisdom being imparted there and a number of the ladies have had their babies so we're shrinking in numbers

Some haven't had to cut much out at all and I certainly haven't had to make many drastic changes. Limited the pasta and swapped the carbs I eat for lower GI options. Refined sugars are right out but I've not found that too hard. I'm missing fruit the most as it's all I want to eat but I'm fine with berries, peaches and Braeburn apples (but not other sorts ). It's a bit of a minefield but we're managing and there is a silver lining in that it's harder to put on weight on a GD diet!
