Anyone else counting down until the baby arrives?

Hello,

I am 18 weeks pregnant and am wondering how I am going to cope with the wait until the baby arrives. I am just so excited and thrilled about being pregnant and literally cannot wait until my due date in November. I dream about the baby at night, I think about it during the day (while trying to work). I just feel like time is dragging. I am not even half way through yet. My husband is as excited as me so we talk about the baby constantly and he is happy for me to babble on about stuff.

I am very impatient at the best of times, but this is killing me. I have a scan in 2 weeks to determine the sex and I am wondering how I will even wait for that.

Is this normal? It is my first baby. How do you cope with the wait?

Thanks!

Hi emmyloo2
Can't really give you any advice on how to cope - I'm now 37 weeks and it's been the LONGEST 37 weeks of my life!
It's my first baby too, and I'm sure it's normal.
I found time went a bit quicker once I got past 25 weeks, maybe because I was busier at work and worrying less about the baby.
Just try to keep busy with other stuff I guess is my pretty rubbish top tip!

i have to say it will just be the longest few months of your life! i agree with toptrump i'm now 38 wks pregnant and after i'd got past 24 weeks it certainly started to speed up, before that I was counting in days now i could at least count in weeks! enjoy the pampering while you can as once it comes along you'll probably never get another minute to yourself! (or so people keep telling me) so I''m just enjoying beng a big whale waddling around and relaxing.

shipsladyg · 08/06/2010 17:05

and then is slooooooows riiiiiight doooooown in the 39th week... and then you go overdue... and then you really konw what impatience is and feel like kicking people who tell you "the baby will come when it's ready" etc.

emmyloo2 · 08/06/2010 17:07

Thanks guys! Hopefully it will start to speed up soon then. It does seem painfully slow and it's not like I am sitting around twiddling my thumbs. I work full time in a demanding job and we travel all the time on weekends and stuff. But it's just always in the back of my mind - like a little reminder - baby, baby, baby.....

I am hoping after our 20 week scan and once we know the sex it will go faster. I can start buying clothes and stuff then to keep myself busy!

Oh and I am totally getting into the pampering. Massages, facials, pedicures - you name it, I am having it.

34 weeks with DC4 and this has definitely seemed like the longest pregnancy ever (also the most uncomfortable and anxiety inducing because I am so old now ).

Seemed to have speeded up slightly now I am over the 30 week mark and (thank god) the other DCs are back at school so the next 6 weeks will go quickly as they always seem to in summer term time. Looking forward to lazing in the sunshine in the garden in peace and quiet in these last few weeks .

Hi emmyloo2

I'm now 30 weeks and I agree with twig79 and toptrump, the weeks just idle by at a very slow pace. I've been trying to keep myself busy by reading reviews on everything that I need to buy for the baby, as it is also my first child. For my cot, travel system, caar seat etc, I read every review going, made charts cross referencing all the pros and cons, yes time consuming, but thats what you need to pass the time away.
Good luck

hi emmyloo

im with you...im nearly 33 weeks with my first and now its getting closer im getting ridiculous!! iv chosen outfits to come home him for the baby, packed his hospital bag, bought a ton of napppies and wet wipes, keep having baby dreams, cannot stop thinking about him and what he will look like. i am just SOOOOOO excited and i cant see how im going to get thru the next 7 or so weeks!! maybe he'll come a bit early so i wont have as long to wait!! its worse for me too coz 6 of my friends have given birth within the last 2 months so im incredibly broody as well!! BUT it does go faster after 20 something weeks...after the 20 week scan i can remember thinking bloody hell im only half way, but tbh, the last 13 weeks have absolutely flown by, im just really impatient too!! xx

Im 31 weeks and, really want to hurry up and be August already, why do weeks go in so slowly don't they know we have things to do hehe x

dolphina78 · 11/06/2010 11:05

Hi all,
I'm 40+3 and am reeeeally wishing it was here now!!
I also found time went quite slow too, feel like I have been pregnant all my life! And then all of a sudden, your due date is round the corner (or gone in my case) so my advice would be to savour it as much as possible!!

CherryPie3 · 11/06/2010 11:18

I agree with everyone who has said it drags until your halfway scan then suddenly you're in 3rd trimester, then when you thought you had loads of time to do stuff it all needs doing NOW!

Currently 33+1 - counting down the days!!
Not everything is ready yet - it''s all bought but not put together yet,

pipinmybelly · 11/06/2010 18:45

cherrypie i too am 33+1!! 29th july? xx

mummytosquidgies · 11/06/2010 22:44

I'm 29+0 and although due on the 27th August, I'm having an ELCS on the 19th, so I will be 38+6.
It's KILLING me knowing the exact date the baby's coming, as I am literally counting down the weeks and days (9 weeks 6 days today!) and it feels as though it's never going to come.
With DS I found it so hard once I went overdue, as you look forward to the due date, and then when it comes and goes it's really frustrating. He came 10 days over, the waiting and not being able to count down any more was the worst bit!
