Renal pelvis moderately dilated!

Had 20 week san and all is well apart from the right renal pelvis is 6mm. The left is fine at 2.5mm.
I am having to go back at 32 weeks for another scan.
Has anyone had this and has returned to normal at 32 weeks?

Sonographer did say that the protocal for this is changing in August and had I presented in August it would have been ignored as top range changing from 5 to 8. Did set my mind at ease a little bit.

Got them back to front sorry.
It's the left that measures 6mm, and the right that emasures 2.5mm.

Yes, I had the same at my 20 week scan and sonographer also said I was right at the end of the limit where, once it changes in August, I wouldn't have been called back.

I went for a rescan at 32 weeks and unfortunately it hadn't resolved, one kidney was measuring 11.6mm and the other was 9.4mm so have now got to wait until he is born for them to decide what happens next.

The hospital have been pretty sketchy with details - they have ordered me not to have a homebirth and have put a Paediatric alert on my notes to ensure he sees a Paediatrician at birth and then they will take it from there. It is likely he will have to have a scan and then will probably be put on prophalactic antibiotics for a length of time.

I feel really in the dark though, my MW did get me a telephone consultation with the Paed but he still couldn't tell me much - I think it really is a case of waiting and seeing.

I do know that his kidney function and anatomy is all fine though which is obviously reassuring and from what I can glean from the net that it's not a serious issue.

Hopefully someone will be along who has already given birth and can tell us both more. I am due in 2 weeks and would be more than happy to keep you informed of my son's progress if you like?

Hopefuly yours will have resolved before 32 weeks, apparently a lot do. Good luck!

Thank you IckleJess, I have googled it aswell, and it doesn't seem to deemed as a serious problem, which is reasurring.

Hope everything goes well for you and your little one, not long now .
If you don't mind letting me know what happens next in your little ones case that would be lovely thank you.

The sonographer mentioned rescanning after birth and the probability of anti-biotics, which does seem the standard treatment and monitoring on what I've been reading.
