This is not something i considered last time, but last night i started stressing that i needed sweets for my hospital bag Have still got 9wks til due date

Anyway, i have decided that sweets are VERY IMPORTANT this time but i cannot for the life of me decide which ones would be best.

I don't want boiled sweets (need to fit between contractions) but jelly sweets might not last long enough.

Such a dilemma.......

Help please wise Mnetters

Alice I've been giving this a lot of thought and have selflessly carried out some extensive research today on your behalf (5 bags of retro sweeties from an old fashioned sweet shop today - the 3 boiled sweets below make the cut, the lemon rock and fruit buds have been eliminated).

  1. Boiled sweets:

Soor Plooms
Rhubarb Rock
Sherbet Lemons

  1. Haribo - Starmix not Tangfantastics which would be my normal choice as don't want to get sugary fingers
  1. Ripples - would be normal supermarket choc bar of choice but concerned about melting in the heat
  1. Rococco - rose & violet creams as ultimate post pushing treat (but concerned about melting as above so maybe a small box of their violetti to suck on).

If I'm organised enough or not in too much pain early on in labour, I'm going to make and chill a big flask of tart homemade lemonade to wash the lot down. Failing that, its lucozade & water for me.

Hmmm...I am liking the research, but i am not going for hard boiled sweets as they take too long to eat, may get in the way of the gas and air etc

Lucozade sweets are definitely in.

Did you know the MW's in the recovery unit (after cs) told me off for having Lucozade instead of water to drink. I had not been allowed anything other than sips of water for about 14hrs at that point and desperately needed the sugar. Sweets are easier to smuggle in
