travel insurance if flying after 28weeks

Just wondered if anyone had had any probs getting travel insurance after 28weeks. I'll be 30 weeks and it only just occurred to me that it may be a problem

Also if anyone can recommend any companies who haven't charged the earth, that'd be great.

I spent ages researching this for a trip to the US so hopefully the below is useful. I got cover through World First - they were very helpful and covered me for travel to the States at 29-31 weeks. I ended up getting an annual policy that was only fractionally more expensive than my previous annual policy.

You also need to make sure that whatever policy you end up taking out covers the baby in the unlikely event it arrives prematurely. I did this through the same people by paying a small additional fee (£20?) to have her added at around 24 weeks. Finally make sure your partner is also covered either by their own or the same policy so if anything does happen that delays their travel plans they are covered too. Hope that helps!

I'm going away at 27 weeks and the first policies I checked didn't even cover me then! Virgin cover up to 32 including for premature labour though I think, but read the policies and speak to them on the phone to be sure they cover you.

I have annual cover with direct line and they used to cover only up to 28 weeks but have recently changed their policy to cover all the way to term as it's supposedly seen as gender discrimination if they didn't!! ( obviously flights/ferries have a cut off)

Are you sure you can fly? I know that Thomson take women who are up to 7 months pregnant, I was supposed to be flying to Egypt but Egypt Air wont let women on who are more than 6 months pregnant.

Thanks everyone. I think it all depends on the individual airline, we're flying with flybe and they say after 28weeks you need a letter from doc or midwife.
