Leg Spasms

Hi
I am 25 weeks and have been feeling great throughto my pregnancy so far but over the last week I am being woken several times a night with extremely painful leg spasms at the bottom of my legs. It feels as though someone is stretching my muscle and let letting it go again. Has anyone got any hints on what could help. I also have pins and needle in my hands at night but these are not a problem compared to the leg pain.

leg cramps are common in pregnancy

this thread had lots of ways to deal with them.

Is a bitch though.

My personal favourite is swearing and jumping around enough to wake up dh - well it;s his fault I'm in this state

Oooh I get these, they're horrible!

First time it happened I dealt with it by screaming, and DH somehow managed to make something coherent out of the screams, jumped up out of deep sleep and massaged my leg. He massaged the wrong leg, of course!

Now I find I can start to feel my legs getting twitchy before the cramp comes, and I stretch the calves by flexing my feet, i.e. pointing my toes up.

Off to look at other thread...

Are the pins and needles in the 3 outside fingers? If sound that sounds like carpal tunnel, I have just been diagnosed with this and I tend to get it only at night. The physio has given me some rather attractive looking splints to help, and while they took a while to get used to they have helped quite a bit.

The leg cramps are a bitch! Various remedies are bananas, tonic water, magnesium supplements and for some bizarre reason corks at the end of the bed

Thanks for the replies. Yes the pins and needles are in my outside fingers. Also my hand just feels weaker than usual as though I have lost some strength. I am off now to stock up on magnesium!
Thanks
