You may all be soooooo bored with me now but here goes.

already suffered with hg and im on my fourth water infection so i have been feeling pretty crappy since about 14 weeks - im now 28 weeks. anyway - went to docs friday last week as was feeling crap still and she diagnosed water infection using one of those dippy stick things.

So i thought that was the end of it, got anti biotics and itll go.

however just got a letter from docs, seems that they sent this water sample off - (didnt know she was doing this) and now they want another sample as result of the results of that sample. so i take it up hand it to the nurse who said there seems to be 'some problems' with my urine. she said maybe an infection - but we knew that anyway....

tbh nurse was a bit rubbish and just read to me what the doc wrote last week....

so now i'm thinking what could possibly be the issue?? I mean, what would they test urine for?

Maybe im just worrying for nothing - but what a way to leave me for the weekend not knowing what they think may be wrong?

feel free to tell me to GET A GRIP! [GRIN}

Hey again storm.

If GP has diagnosed infection they will always send the urine off to the lab for more specific testing to see if you have been given the right ABs.

I should think the ABs they have given you will be "broad spectrum" ones and you may need a different one depending on what they've found in your wee.

The repeat sample could just be because they've lost or spoiled the original sample or the tests were inconclusive, I wouldn't worry too much until you hear back.

How are you feeling otherwise?

tutu100 · 04/06/2010 15:13

If they have left you over the weekend then it can't be too serious. Otherwise they'd call you back immediately.

It could be a whole load of things. Most of which are not serious at all. If something like sugar or ketones in your urine are raised they may just want to take tests from a second sample to compare levels.

As you sound really worried I suggest phoning your dr's and asking to speak to them today. Don't be fobbed off. There is no point in you having your weekend spoilt with worry when I am sure everything is fine.

Let us know how you get on. Good Luck.

P.S. I had HG aswell so really sympathise with how crappy you must be feeling especially in this heat.

thanks guys - i know im panicing over nothing

tutu - i will phone the doc's and try and get to speak to someone - the receptionists are shocking - completely agree with the hg luckily its not been so bad this week

Jacks - i'm still feeling pretty crappy - good days and bad - yesterday i was getting pains which im assuming are braxton hicks - thats what they told me when i was in the hospital the other week and the dizzyness isnt getting better - on the upside sickness died down again. how are you?

will let you know how i get on. luckily i have consultant appt on tuesday which usually puts me at ease

It could be a yeast infection as well as a bacterial infection. The usual dip test they do to test for infections (is it the nitrate or nitrite test???) can't distinguish between bacterial and fungal infections...and obviously antibiotics will only work on bacterial infections!

Jacksmybaby · 04/06/2010 15:34

Sorry you are still feeling crap storm. I'm quite a bit better sickness wise although random things like certain smells and travelling still set it off v. badly so can't get into work still (1.25hr commute on train and tube); luckily am able to work from home for the time being.

Hope things improve soon!

storminabuttercup · 04/06/2010 15:57

thanks japhrimel - that would make sense - one thing though - i didnt take the anti biotics as the doc said - take them if it gets worse - and to be fair it kinda stayed the same

jacks - glad you can work from home - this isnt an option for me, however still dont think they care im off as noone has been in touch - ive become lost in a big organisation.. Hope sickness goes completely for you - being stuck at home is very lonely!
