And if Leicester, which one? (I mean for childbirth ; ) ).
It's really early days, but I've been asked where I want to do it...
Thanks!

Hi there,
My sister had both hers at the General and said it was great. I was born there as well! Where do you live? x

I'm in Market Harborough - how about you? x

Kettering is no modern-looking hospital, having been to some that look like swanky London hotels, Kettering Gen is like something out of the 80s but I guess you won't be looking at the decor!

I had my first dc there 6 years ago and they were abysmal for a myriad of reasons and subsequently found out had bad reputation locally. I had my 2nd there 4 years ago with massive amounts of trepidation, having considered other hospitals, and they were wonderful, there had been a massive sea change of attitude and staff. It was/is the preferred hospital over Northampton General. I have been to Leicester Gen & Infirmary but not to their maternity units.

Have you visited both? Most offer a walk round on a Sat or Sun and you can ask them questions that might be important to you like about birthing pools, private rooms and % of women given epidurals etc.

I was born at the General but have chosen the Infirmary following recommendations from (doctor) friends.

Being from a village near MH I've had an operation at Kettering and probably wouldn't return if I had the other options.

Hope this helps!

I had my dd at the general and was very pleased with them. I've had mixed reviews of the royal.

hi, not posted before. 17 weeks now in 1st pregnancy. also in MH!! have booked at lri for kensington birth centre (hopefully). i like the general and if it was just me going to hospital would choose their but the neonatal unit is much smaller and so if problems with baby would be concerned. not a kettering fan and think they do more sections than instrumental deliveries. but think its a personal decision and think there are pros and cons to all 3.
