im 40+1 today and wanted to start a new topic to see if there is anyone else in my position to get some good moaning and hopefully some good birth stories ( eventually)

For my part; Im miffed- my husbo and parents are teachers so we were really hoping for a half term baby; but instead we are going to be waiting waiting waiting and not making the most of half term....boo.

No signs, no BH, mw appt tomorrow, dunno what for. What is the best thing to do once overdue? tried the usual ( not sex, Husbo wont go near me- not even a mercy shag, gah.)

I'm 40+9 if it makes you feel any better I was most miffed on/just after my due date but have now almost started to accept it.

The constant stream of texts that we did have are now drying up- I am finding it hard to leave the house because I'm so massive and walking is a struggle.

These are the things that I have tried to speed things up: Pineapple (everyday), spicy food (every day), sex, nipple twiddling, rasp leaf tea (capsules and to drink), long walks (when I COULD walk!), bouncing on birth ball, acupuncture....

Your MW may offer you a sweep tomorrow, I had two last week and am due another one tomorrow. I found them quite useful in that they could see my cervix had started to dilate and became a bit softer between the two sweeps. Apparently then can work in 50% of people in kick starting labour although sadly not in my case.

I am due to be induced on Friday if all else fails!

goodd luck for friday!
I can imagine the texts get a bit grating after a while. Sorry to hear that you are struggling with walking etc... what are you findingg to keep yourself busy?

My MW said she would only do 1 sweep- dunno if it is policy here or what- and that will be next monday....

I was due yesterday. My DD was born on her due date and my DS was born the day after her due date. Both delivered at night. So I thought that the baby would be born by now. For goodness sake, I'm the size of a hippo and there's no muscles holding the child in. Why hasn't it fallen out????

I'm 40 plus 2 today (so same as you, thegauntlet). I dwell on all twinges and pains I get- lots of BH, sometimes accompanied by period like pains. This is my first, and very impatient to meet babs. Struggling to sleep- I feel very awake all the time. I've told mum and sister not to expect any notice that labour has begun- I'll be in contact once I've delivered. Sister was disappointed, but I don't want the pressure of them texting/telephoning as its happening. I'm going to need to zone out!

Im having conttractions 4 mins apart- have been on a stupid monitor at the hospital for an hour- and then the horrific internal showed that my cervix is still too posterior for it to be 'labour'

The trace did pick up the contractions, and I passed a massive bloody show this morning. I ended up in hospital seen as I had a trickle of water this morning too- andtold the midwife at my routine appt today. who sent me straight to the hospital.

I am really feeling these pains quite badly and it has been 4 hours of them being regular- now getting closer together... the MW at the hospital basically said 'come back in when your waters break properly' and take some paracetamol....

Im now sitting in bed on MN, watching 24- and moaning like a banshee every 4 mins. hot waterbottle and paracetamol. Damn do I want a Gin and tonic (blush)
what should I do? at what point do i do anything?

At least things have started to happen for you! I'm starting to believe I am imagining this pregnancy!

If you haven't actually delivered by now, I'd keep in close contact with your labour ward to get their feedback on your contractions...

Good luck!

40 + 3 today and all small signs of impending labor have now disappeared. I feel like I've tried everything...hoping the sweep works on Saturday. Plus my parents and sister arrived from the States today...so the pressure is on to have this baby! Not sure if that's helping...lol

Good luck to everyone...feeling your pain!
