How long was it until your first midwife visit?

I went to the doctors 2 weeks ago to tell them I was pg and I was told that I would be contacted by the MW within 2-3 weeks.

However, as I didnt find out I was pg until I was 7-8 weeks the doctor did say that the MW will prioritise and so I should be contacted sooner rather than later.

I am 10 going on 11 weeks pg already and have still not heard from a MW.

I was told to ring the doctors back if I didnt hear anything for 3 weeks.

WWYD?

I had my first appointment with a GP at 11 weeks to refer to the hospital for the scan because my midwife is so hard to get to see. Then I saw a midwife when I had my scan and only met my own midwife at 17 weeks for the first time. You can always do it that way because you should have been referred by now. The first available scan for me was when I would have been 14 weeks but I called the hospital and got a cancellation appointment at 12 1/2 weeks. I'd phone the surgery and ask what's going on and if you can see someone who can refer you straight away.

Thanks aswellasyou. I didnt want to pester the doctors, especially as they said to give them 3 weeks but I think Im going to give them a call in the morning. Hopefully try and get the ball rolling.

I hate this stage of pregnancy - when you know you are pregnant (from the aching boobs and endless positive tests I still keep doing ) - but nothing is confirmed.

Plus, me and DH have decided not to tell anyone (in RL that is) until after the 1st scan - and it is killing me!!!

I hope like you I can get a cancellation scan - with DS my first scan was at 16weeks!

I would chase them up tomorrow, people are forever getting overlooked and paperwork not processed. Personally I shamelessly chase all appointments at the beginning and if I hadn't I am not sure I would have got a 12 week scan (was at 14 weeks as it was!)

I agree, call the doctors again. I was in the same position, being told that the MW would contact me within a few days, but got fed up after 4 weeks and managed to leave a message on her mobile phone. It turned out there had been a mix up with paperwork and she had no idea about me.
Luckily she's fairly proactive and came out to see me (2 days before Christmas when I was 11 wks) and requested an urgent scan so that I would fit into the timeframe for nuchal scan.

I would chase them asap. NICE Guidance suggests the booking in appointment should be between 7 and 9 weeks so that there is time to book a scan.

I had mine at 8+2 and have my dating/nuchal scan booked for 12+5.
