5 weeks and worry

This is my second pregnancy (first ended in a mmc), so far i haven't had any real symptoms. A bit of tiredness but i can't help worry that by now i should be getting some other symptoms!

I know probably pointless worrying but all the same...

Is five weeks too early for most symptoms to start? and should i quit my complaining and enjoy not having any!

Was too soon for me, they started at 6/7 weeks this time. Good luck x

It's not only early but every pregnancy and every person is different.I have every sympathy as bad 2 mmc but can't recall the symptoms for them or dd pregnancy being that different (didn't really have that many symptoms).

Can you book an early scan to ease your concerns?

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 31/05/2010 13:14

Hi there. It was 6-7 seven weeks for me too and even then they only started gradually, so I think it is too early really. Very sorry to hear about the mmc, but try not to worry if you can! Fingers crossed for you that it all works out well!!

Thanks for the reassurance, I think pregnancy is making me stress about everything....trying to take deep breaths and relax

Cheers

I had mmc last year and am now 35 weeks pregnant and very happy and excited. All I can say is that the first 12 weeks after a mc are incredibly difficult as, of course, you worry all the time it will happen again.
I sometimes felt I was going mad with the stress etc..

But hopefully this time will be fine for you too. I had symptoms from about 5/6 weeks this time but only metallic taste in my mouth but as others said every pregnancy is different.

I would get a private scan though if NHS won't do one early. worth every penny. I had a private one at 7 weeks and it really helped me deal with the next few weeks.

Fingers crossed for you.

I had an mmc in January 2009 and have been trying since April this year. It hasnt happened for me yet but I have had all of the above worries so thank you all for reassuring me

Bodinga · 02/06/2010 13:08

Hope all works out for you Inchy.

I had mmc in January and am now 6 weeks pregnant so totally feeling your stress. I thought everything was fine with that pregnancy so was so shocked at 12 wk scan to find out baby had stopped developing.

Somedays I am very pragmatic and calm, others stressing about having no proper symptoms. I have a bit of feeling sickly but nothing major. Thing is I didn't have any really major symptoms with my dd and ds. I also had a bit of a bleed just before I was due on which hasn't helped. Dr said sounds ok at the moment as I had a positive test 8 days after bleed...

Trying to just be as healthy as I can - eat all the right things and all that.

We are thinking of having private scan if get through second missed period and can't stand to wait anymore.

I had such minor symptoms I didn't even find out I was pregnant until 8 weeks. I'd even been bleeding for the first 5 full weeks of my pregnancy so it didn't occur to me I was pregnant. I had been bleeding almost none stop for 2 and a half years. I was worried constantly until my first scan when I found out I was 16+3 not 13 weeks. I had my second scan yesterday at 23+4 and everything's fine so far, one healthy and very active baby. Just try not to worry too much and just remember it's surely better to feel nothing than to feel all the aweful symptoms some women get.

Hi Inchy,

Sorry about your mmc, it really is pants, and like kapars said, makes the first 12 weeks of your subsequent pregnancy quite stressful!! I had mmc in December, and am now 12 weeks pregnant. I didn't have any symptoms until I was over 7 weeks, I assumed the worst.

If you talk to your GP you may be able to get an early scan at the EPU (depending on where you are in the country - my EPU did me an early scan at just over 7 weeks and it was so reassuring). I haven't have my 12 week scan yet, will do soon, I'm holding my breath (not literally) 'til then.

Basically, as far as you can, try not to worry about lack of symptoms or anything, every pregnancy is different (you might not get any and that will be normal too!!). The stats are definitely in your favour that this time it will be fine, I know it's a long long wait until 12 weeks!! Good luck, and congrats on your pregnancy

xx

Sorry to hear about your MMC. I hope it may reasssure you that it is not uncommon to have a M/C with the first PG and no further problems with future pregnancies.
My SIL had an MMC with first PG (only picked up at 12 week scan) and she has had 4 successful pregnancies since.

Five weeks would be extremely early to have any symptoms. Morning sickness and tiredness did not start for me until 7-8 weeks and I think this is average.

But as others have said, every PG is different. I hope it all works out for you.
