can protein in urine be caused by dehydration?

I had 3 pluses of protein in my urine dipstick test on friday, I have done a 24 hour collection but it wont be back until wednesday so in the mean time I was wondering if that much protein could be caused by the urine being concentrated? I had been stuck in day care most of the day and so hadnt had enough to to drink. There was nothing else in the sample just protein.

thanks!

Not that I know of.

Do you have any other symptoms?

thanks for the link! I have been told that I probably have preeclampsia but the hospital have sent me home to come back in a few days - when I have had preeclampsia before I have had to stay in so im not sure if they are still considering if I do or not which is why I was wondering about the protein!

Do you know what symptoms to look for?

differentnameforthis · 31/05/2010 07:54

OK, well if it is PE then they will act on the results of the 24hr protein.

They did this to me, called me back for a check & my bp was v high, with 5+ protein, so they kept me in & induced me.

How far along are you?

seeker I have been told to look for headaches, swelling, flashing lights and upper stomach pain although I had preeclampsia in my last 3 pregnancies with none of these symptoms which is a little worrying.

differentnameforthis I am 30 weeks

Swelling particularly in the face..

But yes, it is worrying that you had have PE before with so few symptoms.

PE is the exact reason that I won't have any more...(I have 2) because for me, it was too stressful!

I hope everything will be OK for you.
