I am 19 weeks and have been getting stomach cramps akin to period pains. I've other symptoms, so I assume this is normal, but this isn't something I had first time around. Reassurance please!

Could be all sorts. Can you distract yourself by doing other stuff? If yes I think I would just try to do that; it's when you can't distract yourself any more that it's probably a problem.

Disclaimer: I'm not a health professional, just saying what I would do.

sorry, OP should have read "I've NO other symptoms...".

thanks lljkk - am going to sort out the garden when the paracetamol kicks in.

I had this the other day (I'm 24 weeks) from 1pm until I went to bed. It was seriously uncomfortable so I ended up ringing NHS Direct in the evening. Basically, I was told that unless it was extremely painful or went on for days, then it was nothing to worry about and was most likely to be the stretching of ligaments and muscles. The nurse I spoke to said the only thing they worry about is that it could be a sign of very early labour, but then I would have had pains in my back too, it would come and go a lot and wouldn't be masked with paracetamol. I think it's just another thing to add to the list of things that are normal in pregnancy.

thanks for that aswell - very reassuring. glad you're ok.

The pain has been there all day, but got worse after I lifted my 16kg DC to get a better view of the horses in the park, so I guess the ligaments thing fits in.

I had to take a week off work when I was 17 weeks because of "general pains" in my abdomen. I knew the baby was OK - just a feeling I suppose and because I could feel him moving. My midwife said it was probably just growing pains/ligaments. Did make me wonder how anyone could claim not to know they were pregnant - it really really bloody hurt.

Did some slow dog-walking that week and met a lovely lady in the park when we were both feeding the animals - so made a new friend.
