Is it safe to eat cured meat like chorizo or ham while pregnant? I read that they are ok to eat if they are heated up.

Thanks

I've eaten ham and chorizo this pregnancy and last with no ill effects so far

If it is cured, does that mean there was something wrong with it in the first place?

I have eaten it throughout my pregnancy and am 31 weeks along. I probably eat parma ham about once a week and chorizo once every couple of weeks. The only thing I have avoided throughout has been non-pastuerized dairy produce due to the (although once I drank non-pastuerized milk as my husband bought it from the farmer's market and I didn't realise and put it in my tea! Hey ho) and mould-ripened cheese (so I have eaten pastuerized goat's cheese that has NOT been mould ripened). I have also eaten sushi 3 or 4 times. I have just been careful about knowing where the food comes from and that it is fresh and kept refridgerated at all times before eating, and eaten these things in moderation.
