Is everyone offered a 3d scan at St Helier's?

Hello, just a quick query really - my 20 week scan is at St Helier's next week.

I'm assuming 3d scans are only available in some hospitals or is everyone offered one? When would they happen?

I've just spoken to St Helier's and she said the 20wk scan wasn't a 3d scan and hung up before I could get any more info from her!

Apart from the picture being clearer are there any other benefits, eg health issues, to be had by a 3d scan? Would it be worth booking a private one?

I think you can only get 3d scans privately.

St Helier offer 3D scans privately. The 20 week scan is never a 3D scan, having seen my SIL have a 3D scan I can't imagine they would be able to check the things they need to at 20 weeks using one as it looked at the baby's surface rather than organs.

I think I can recall fromthe posters all over St Heliers that they offer 3D scans from 26 to 34 weeks, so at 20 weeks you would be a bit earlyto get a proper look at the baby which is all I think 3D scans are for.

Hey folks - were you able to find out the sex at St H? I have my 20 week scan on Tues and really want to know the sex, just wondering if it's one of those hospitals that won't tell?

I think so, but not sure - we opted not to and said straight away that we didn't want to know
Good luck with your scan!
