I've been having a few pains on my right side today, nothing continuous but when they come they are sharp. Went to the doctor who prodded about and is sending my to EPU for a scan at some point in the next few days to check for ectopic. Apart from being a bit tender where he poked me about the pains appear to have gone. Anyone had an ectopic or pains like this and everything was fine? Have also been told if they come back, even at 4am, I have to take myself to A&E - nice and reassuring!

How many weeks are you knackered?

I had similar on my left side and my doc told me to go for a scan in a few days. When I arrived they were annoyed that I had not been referred immediately. I would recommend calling your local early pregnancy unit in the morning to get a scan tomorrow - especially given the holiday weekend.

Mine turned out to be pain from the corpus luteum so it was all fine but it is best to make sure.

I hope all is well.

Forgot to say I am about 5 weeks. I'm not too worried about it as I think I had it before with my son, but then I can't remember that clearly! I'm calling the doctor tomorrow to find out when my scan is, might refer myself if it isn't for a few days.

Thanks for answering

I had pain on my left side, which I went to A&E with as it was a sunday night and it was pretty painful, the lovely man gave me an appointment after ringing EPAU for 8.30am the following morning. Mine turned out to be in the right place and the pain was caused by a 8cm cyst on my ovary.
DD is now neally 3 and cyst is thought to have burst in labour, as it was there on a 36 weeks scan but gone on 6 weeks post scan.

Hope everything works out okay, maybe ring them in the morning and see if referral has gone through and when appointment is (EPAU). My local one you can't self refer, but it is different in different hospitals.

Thanks Nunnie, now you mention it I seem to remember cysts with number 1 (amazing what you forget!). Am ringing 10am tomorrow to find out when the appointment is.

I had awful pains like yours, a scan didnt show anything in my womb and a lump in my tube so I was opened up to ahve a look. Baby was in fact safely in my womb, and it was just a cyst on my ovary.

Bearing in mind it is the bank holiday weekend you might want to try first thing in the morning. I only say this cos I know our EPAU would be booked up for scans by 10am. Can't hurt to ring them-whether they accept self-referrals or not. They may well be able to give you some advice over the phone?!

Good luck x

So had my early scan on friday and all appears to be in the right place. To soon to see if it is a viable pregnancy so need to go back in 3 weeks. One interesting point, there appear to be 2 sacs!?!?!? Apparently one is likely to be a 'disappearing twin'. Can't say I had ever heard of that but not that uncommon. Just have to wait for 3 weeks to see if our family is going to extend from 4 people to 6!!!
