Worried (sorry probably tmi)

I was wondering if anyone has had anything similar?
I am roughly 7 wks pregnant with my 4th pregancy,
i lost a baby at 8 wks 3 years ago.
This time though i though everything was going great i was feeling ill 24hrs a day for 2 weeks (something i had'nt had in any of my other pregnancys) anyway last saturday i started to have a brown coloured discharge i went to a&e and was given an internal and told my cervix was closed and to rest, a scan was booked for monday.
At the scan they said i had a healthy looking sac and yolk but it was to early to see anything else!! and i have to go back in 10 days.
On sunday i started to bleed fresh blood but i still had no pain, on Tuesday night i passed a large blood clot but still had no pain, the bleeding continued and i started to feel sick in the morning again,i called my midwife and explained whats been going on and she seems to think it's possible it could have been a twin pregnancy and 1 has been lost.
Last night i had another loss but this time it was a pinky colour like gristle (sorry tmi) but i'm still having no pain and although i'm still bleeding it's a thick dark colour now and my breasts have started to tingle again.
I still have to go for the scan next week but i'm dreading it i just want to know one way or the other.
Has anyone else had this or heard of anyone having this.

No experience or advice - just plenty of sympathy and good wishes xx
If you read threads on here concerning m/c you will see that experiences widely vary and is so hard to second guess what is going on without professional opinon following a scan. I am sure your scan will help to put your mind at rest oe way or another. Try to get some sleep and relax as much as you can until then - easy said, I know, but little else you can do at this stage. If you start to feel really unwell, then don?t wait for your scan, phone your GP immediately.

I had brown discharge followed by fresh blood a week later, had a scan at 6 weeks and could only see the sack, had a scan last week at eight weeks and was told all was ok, still not sure what caused the bleed. Hope all goes well for you.

Tinkerbell1, so sorry you're having this anxiety. If you want to know one way or the other (and I'd be the same), can you get to your local A&E, and fib a bit, and say you're in pain -- and push for an emergency scan?

I seem to have lost most pg symptoms now apart from heartburn, so i'm not feeling to optomistic at the moment.

Oops thanks for your support i was given an internal when i went to a&e last sat and the doc said my cervix was still closed and i was given an early scan on mon which saw the sac but no heartbeat but as i was only just 6 wks i have to go back this thursday.

I have an appointment with my midwife in the morning so i'll see if she can get me an earlier appointment.

Sorry to hear your problems, it is all very distressing. Unfortunately in early pregnancy it can be impossible to see a foetus/baby on a scan because they can be too small. This is why they have told you to have the next scan in 10 days, because it will allow time for things to progress and grow. The sac and yolk sac can be seen on scan earlier than the baby. The fact that they have seen a sac and yolk within your womb means that it is very unlikely that you have an ectopic pregnancy. Unfortunately the symptoms you describe with the clots etc do sound more likely to be a threatened miscarriage. It will be a week tomorrow since your last scan, is that right? I think that as your symptoms changed since you had the scan (i.e. your bleeding changed from brown to clot) it would be reasonable to repeat the scan ASAP. Unfortunately scans are not usually performed during the night, so the earliest would be tomorrow. I would suggest that if you are feeling ok physically and the loss is not too bad now to call in the morning and see if they have any earlier slots available for scan. However if you are having heavy loss/large clots I would call now for advice and assessment. Did they give you an emergency contact number for the gynae unit/early pregnancy unit? If not and you are bleeding heavily call the hospital main number and ask to be put through to gynae.

I had one clot on tues night not very big about the size of a 10p and then i had what i can only describe as pink fatty like tissue which was about as big as the clot other than that i've had nothing only the bleeding.
But i will be asking the midwife to try and get me seen before thursday.

Sorry to say this, but I had a similar thing last summer where I started bleeding; within hours the bleeding had escalated to clots etc. I also passed something pinkish, like a funny looking broad bean, which I assumed was the foetal sac - it certainly wasn't like anything I'd seen before. The ultrasound was inconclusive (there was some sort of shadow, but the sonographer couldn't be sure it wasn't just a perfectly normal little cyst) but the bloods done over two days showed dropping hcg levels. Unlike yours, however, my cervix was partly open when examined - although the on-call gynae couldn't see any 'products of conception'. I was also in a fair amount of pain.

The on-call gynae was worried enough to keep me in overnight. I appreciate that they've done an ultrasound, but I can't believe that the midwife didn't refer you to an EPU or the such-like for more immediate attention when the bleeding worsened. Surely they could do blood tests now...??

Just seen this. Wondering how you are Tinkerbell1? Did you see the midwife? Are you still bleeding? Hope you are ok ((((hugs))))
I had bleeding in all my pregnancies, 2 miscarriages, and 2 DSs. Can't really say there was any way of telling with any of them which way things would go. Just wanted to say hang in there, don't give up hope. With DS2 I was convinced I'd miscarried at 7 weeks and he's now 2 years old. Thinking of you x.

Just to let you all know i went for my scan this morning and it was pretty much as i had expected everything had gone.
Feeling a bit emotional but we are gonna try again.
They told us to wait 3 months but i don't know if i can wait that long i want to start now has anyone else done that?

I've never waited more than one cycle between conceptions - and once not even that. I have had some awful SHO trying to blame me for my miscarriage because I didn't wait - but there's no evidence to suggest that a second pregnancy is more likely to miscarry, just because it's straight after the first (and I have antiphospholipid antibody syndrome, it seems, so her guilt-tripping was entirely misplaced). Lesley Regan in her book on miscarriage suggests that there is no reason to wait, other than an emotional one. A friend of mine, who is a doctor, said that her obs / gynae textbook says that you are more fertile immediately after a miscarriage (although I don't know what 'more fertile' means precisely in this context).

Obviously it's your decision ultimately, but I always found it difficult to wait.

sorry to hear what your going through. I had a mc in January and we were told to wait 3 months. I think we waited about 3 weeks in the end and that was more down to the emotional side of things than anything else. It took us 9 months to conceive the baby I lost and I was having tests for secondry infertility. However, it took us less than a month to fall pregnant with the baby I am now carrying. I'm 23 weeks at the moment.

I would just say do it when you are ready. I did panic we'd rushed it and I hadn't had time to grieve for the baby we lost but on the whole I have been fine.

i miscarried in feb and conceived again in May although we never actually stopped using contraception...

My only advice was that the emotional recovery from mc is different for everyone so go with your intuition...

With hindsight, I am glad I wasn't pg straight away because my recovery was a bit strange...terrible for a week, then better, then got really down about a month or 6 weeks afterwards. Don't think I could have handled the worry of another pg and hormones at that time.

On the other hand, I was originally due this month and it is helping me that I am almost 16wks (past the critical so to speak) at such a hard time...

Oh tinkerbell1 I'm so sorry (((hugs))). I would echo what everyone else has said, only you know when you are emotionally ready to try again. I conceived DS1 straight after a miscarriage, with no period in between. It did make those early weeks very traumatic, as I was still very much greiving for the baby I lost, but I was also glad to be pregnant again..... lots of mixed emotions - greif, joy, fear all intermingled. I do remember after I miscarried all I could think about was getting pregnant again as soon as possible, so I know where you are coming from.
The most important thing is to give yourself what you need right now, love and hugs and support. You will know when the time is right to try again. ((hugs)) xx

Thank you for all the kind words and support.
We have decided to try again asap.
I'm feeling positive, the hardest thing was telling my children that there was no more baby (they're 9 and 7).
I'ts a bit odd though i had only just got used to the idea that there was another one on the way and now i have to get used to the fact that theres not.
Although i'm sad that it has happened i feel that it was meant to be and that when it's time it will happen, has anyone else felt like that?
I think if i hadn't already got children i would be worse. if that makes any sense.

I dont want to worry you and I am sure if was a m/c but have you had your levels of hormone etc checked?Only because my friend had symptons really simiuler to you and it turned out to be a molar pregnancy,just sisnt want to read this 3 months down the line and of not said anything....

Is it normal procedure to have your hormones checked?
As i have had 2 m/cs in 3 yrs now and nobody has checked or even mentioned them both times.

My experience of miscarriage is that your hcg level is checked by blood test over two consecutive days, to check it's dropping. Presumably if it had been a molar pregnancy, there might well have been something left to see on the scan...? Also - I would have thought that it would have been possible to determine a molar pregnancy by the initial scan, where they saw the sac? Not sure how early you can determine the condition, particularly a partial mole.

My mother had a molar pregnancy, but it should be stressed that it is very rare (although according to Lesley Regan, one type of molar pregnancy is more common amongst women of south-east Asian origin). I believe it's so rare in this country that a central register is maintained of cases. It would be one reason to wait between conceptions, however.

It wasn't a molar pregnancy there was a sac and yolk seen at my initial scan but with regard to the hormone tests i havn't had any done at all, nobody has even mentioned them to me.I think maybe because everything was back to normal at my 2nd scan i don't need any. Who knows?
I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that if i conceive again everything will be ok.
