I didnt get any more marks the second time (or third!).

starshaker · 26/05/2010 22:24

I didnt really get any stretch marks first time. however, this time im covered although it is twins this time round

TheCrackFox · 26/05/2010 22:27

I got more -

I carried low with DS1 and high with DS2.

I really hate my stomach now. And no, being told that my body produced an amazing thing does not make me feel any better.

gaelicsheep · 26/05/2010 22:29

I got a few small ones the first time that faded quickly - I only noticed them after I'd given birth. Nothing extra so far - I'm 36 weeks.

lou031205 · 26/05/2010 22:31

I think it's genetic, isn't it? I didn't get any on pregnancies 1 & 2.

Pregnancy 3 I got one on the tail end of my appendectomy scar.

nomorecake · 26/05/2010 23:23

i have more, and i think my old ones are worse.
got some in new places too. think they might actually be worse this time.
i have one thats about half an inch wide!

but i think its because i didnt lose baby weight after ds1 and so have had stretch to accomodate dc2.

have a friend who drinks lots of water and has done for years, she didnt get any stretch marks.

UnseenAcademicalMum · 26/05/2010 23:29

I got none with either of my ds's. However, the consultant doing my cs with ds2 commented on "oh, you're lucky, no stretch marks, we often find the older mums don't get so many as the younger ones".

I didn't know whether to be pleased at the comment of no stretch marks, or offended at being classed as an "older mum" .

HinnyPet · 26/05/2010 23:29

Ooh yes, my appendectomy scar created some interesting stretch marks too!

funnysinthegarden · 26/05/2010 23:31

no worse the second time round. Same hideous saggy belly as before

trixymalixy · 26/05/2010 23:34

I hardly got any first time round, they all stretched second time round and i got a few extra as well.

vmcd28 · 27/05/2010 07:07

Ugh, thanks for this - I was wondering the same thing. My DS is 5, and I am 14w with nbr 2. I STILL havent got back to my pre-baby weight, so am fearing that my tummy will have to stretch even more this time. Ugh! I already had a hideous saggy bag of tummy.

EmmaBemma · 27/05/2010 07:08

It's too early to say for me - last time they didn't appear until 36 weeks or so, and then I got loads, all over my lower belly and I think some on my hips too. But, as well as having quite a big baby, I did put on a lot of excess weight - about 4 stone. I haven't put on as much weight so far this time so I'm hoping I don't get any new ones, but then at 33 weeks I'm already feeling like there's no more room!

sunshiney · 27/05/2010 09:13

i have a strange history with stretch marks. when i was a teenager, due to growth and fast weight gain, i got covered in stretch marks. All over my hips, tops of thighs and breasts.it was a real mess and very depressing when it happened.

but, when pregnant with dd i got just the one extra stretch mark, it was more like an extension of an existing one at the bottom of my stomach iyswim

now a few days off 40 weeks with another dc and i haven't any new stretch marks at all.

also didn't bother with any creams with either pg.

how does that work then! i am clearly prone as i have plenty of old ones. i have a theory that the existing marks kind of acted like pleats or something making expansion room!

SambuccaKelly · 27/05/2010 09:16

My first pregnancy did the damage. was no worse after second child. Got a few extra one son my stomach (very slight), but none anywhere else. Whereas DC1 ravaged me - looked like I had been in a fight with Freddie Kruger!

ohnelly · 27/05/2010 11:09

I got a few more & they were higher up for some reason! They are bright red so I can see how much the old ones have faded now compared to the new ones.

notso · 27/05/2010 11:22

Had loads with dd, but lost about 3 stone during the pregnancy, 2 in the first two months which I think made it worse.
Second time round even though I was much bigger, carried all at the front, I only got two new ones.

5DollarShake · 27/05/2010 14:56

With DS1, I didn't get any until the bitter end, when I noticed some right down underneath my bump.

AM 30+1 with DD1 and have had them much further up for quite some time now.

Sonilaa · 27/05/2010 16:17

I got more. with dc1 I had a very few on the hips and the bikini area. with dc2 I got a star pattern around the belly button in the last week of pregnancy.

Chynah · 27/05/2010 16:34

Lucky enough not to get any with either pregnancy but only put on about a stone each time.
