Blood cord collection?

Can anyone recommend a private cord blood collection service?

Anthony Nolan's Trust has pioneered donation for public blood banks in my hospital (King's College), and whilst I am happy to do this, I would welcome an opportunity to store at least some of it for private use in case my family may need it (my husband has had Hodgkins, and of course we hope it will never return but just in case...) Anthony Nolan's Trust does not offer this option and refused to provide any advice or guidance about those who do it privately.

Also, has anyone actually used the stored stem cells? Or it is one of those things that we tend to do because it gives some reassurance if something goes wrong in the future, but in reality is not so common?

Thanks.

This is the only one I've herad of but I don't know anyone who's stored stem cells at all so I can't recommend it.

The Human Tissue Authority has a list of licensed storage facilities. I haven't looked through it but I think it includes facilities that store all sorts of human tissue so you might have to sift through it.

I hope this gives you a atarting point anyway.
