do I need to call midwife today or wait until appt on friday?

I had a UTI last week and felt fairly awful flu like and really bad pain in my back. I went to the gp who gave me antibiotics but while I was there she did my blood pressure which was higher than normal (was 152/97) and obviously with the infection etc I had protein etc in my urine.
She told me to call the midwife and arrange to have it checked today as I have a history of preeclampsia (have had it in last three pregnancies). I totally forgot at the time that I have an appointment on friday anyway.

I feel fine apart from the back pain which is still there but not as bad. No symptoms of preeclampsia AND my blood pressure is well known for going up down up down anyway! having said that I dont want to take any risks.

Do you think I need to call today or can it wait until friday?

call today, this morning, now. you need to have it all checked properly for preeclampsia straight away with the symptoms you are describing. the protein could be from the UTI but theres no way of telling without running the right bloods.

youd be better off seeing the midwife today, whether thats at clinic or going up to their day unit at the hospital or similar, sounds like better to get it checked out than wait and for things to be wrong

call this morning and see if you can speak to the midwife to ask her opinion.

Definitely go see her today. I believe for pre-eclampsia now they only look for 2 symptoms, and you've got nothing to loose by going today. If everything's ok i'm sure she'll just say cancel the friday appointment, if that makes sense.

I would at least call the midwife and see what she says (and I'm the queen of wait and see!)

well I have tried the midwife but it goes straight to answerphone, I know she was on holiday last week so I don't know if shes back yet. I will try again in 15 mins and if nothing ill just phone the day unit and ask them

You DO have symptoms of pre eclampsia! High BP & protein were enough to get me admitted & induced.
