Think I have a UTI

I am 30 wks pg and feel a but cystitis-y today. Had bp check at GP yesterday and because of +1 protein in urine (bp fine and normal) she thought maybe an infection and sent off to lab.
Today certainly feels like she may be right - but as it is a Saturday, am I ok to wait to Monday do you think? Read some horror stories about pre term labour and UTIs, I had no idea how serious it could be.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Give NHS direct/out of hours a call, you just need a prescription.

yeah call the out of hrs dr, let them know whats been happening and they should be able to get you a prescription. if you experience any serious symptoms, like kidney pain or you think you are having any contractions, even if you think its a baxton hicks, call the midwives emergency number (there should be one on the answer phone of your usual phone number for them) and they will tell you what to do/where to go

No don't wait - please!

I had some awful problems with infections getting out of control during pregnancy which caused some awful kidney problems - so I'm a bit paranoid. But you can't wait till Monday - fever if nothing else is potentially dangerous.

Drink loads, (like 4-6 pints in this heat!!), once you are on anti-b's don't drink cranberry as it can prevent infection but stops the antibiotics working properly.

ANy pain in your back or groin (feels like bone pain in your groin) then go to A&E.

They shoudl give you a solidly good antibiotic - augmentin (co-amoxiclav) or Ciprofloxacin, or cephalexin. If its trimethoprim they offer, question its local efficacy - in some areas up to 2/3 of urine infections are immune.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks everyone, back from GP-chemist round trip with some cefalexin for confirmed UTI. Guess better not to take any chances, I had no idea something as simple as a UTI could have such consequences
