Period pain at 5 weeks

Hi there, I'm five weeks pregnant and have been having all sorts of weird 'shifting' pains over the last ten days, but last night. Was getting actual period tummy cramps. They have gone this morning, but they really scared me. I had two very early (5.5 and 4.5 weeks) MC's last year, and I'm frightened it could be happening again. I know there is nothing to be done really and i'm seeing the dr this afternoon, but I'd love to hear if anyone else has felt period pain cramps at this stage and what the outcome was. Thanks x

Morning, how are you today? I am almost 20 weeks pregnant now, from around 5 weeks i experienced period cramps. Before i got my positive test result i treated the cramp with a gin and tonic and 2 nurofen! I spent most of the time in the loo checking my knicks as i was convinced my period had started. I have heard this is really normal. Even in the last few weeks i have had mild cramping, not as strong as in the early weeks though. Good luck at the doctors hun x

I am 10 weeks with first pregnancy, and experienced/ing lots of what I would call period pain. Think it's more like growing pains where your uterus is expanding and making space for your baby (or babies in my case)

Relax & try not to worry. I'm sure someone on here will be able to give you the technical terms and ease your mind a little

have had this with all my pregnancies .. its just stretching pains, as long as not accompanied with bleeding nothing to worry about .. although i know its easier said than done as have had several mc also. take care and rest up with a water bottle and good book, it will soon pass xx

Hi there, thank you all so much for your thoughts - I feel more relaxed now. There has been no bleeding so far, and luckily I'm off work today, so I'm taking it easy. Thank you again so much - I'm glad to hear it's a normal thing x

I had this a few weeks ago (about 8 weeks now). Also, had a bit of pink spotting last week. I'm fine now. I think it's all quite normal.

With my last 2ds had a bit of spotting, but no cramps. I wouldn't worry too much about it -- every pregnancy is different.

I've had period pain cramps from before I got a positive test, to about 7 weeks. Sometimes it felt really bad!! I had a scan at 7 weeks (I had mmc in the past) and it was fine. I'm 10 weeks now. The MW said this is normal, try not to worry (if that's possible!).

And congratulations!!

Not much to add, but rather to empathise -- 5 weeks here and still getting 'period' pains too...

Congratulations!

Same as everyone else, I had these for a couple of weeks early on and was convinced I was about to miscarry any minute, but am happily 18+3 weeks now!

And Congratulations!

Good morning!
Thank you all so much for your help - I'm now at 6 weeks and all still is fine, no more cramps and no bleeding. I have booked a scan for 7.5 weeks.
Your replies really helped reassure me- thank you again xx

I had cramps when i was 6 weeks, had an internal scan and they comfirmed it was just my body getting ready.

Glad things are going well for you Mrs . I had this with DS and was really worried too as I'd previously miscarried, but as Lucy said it's just the uterus stretching. I had completely forgotten about the experience and when it happened with this pregnancy I panicked again , doh!
