Do plain white shortie romper suits even exist??

Sorry for this but.... I have searched eBay, Next, Mothercare and still all I can find are shortie rompers that have giraffes on or farm animals in their unisex range . Not a huge fan of animal prints as to me they still lok quite boyish and as we're having a baby surprise, I'd quite like to have some plain white, or even lemon or apple green rompers for the first week or so after the birth until I can get around to getting gender specific coloured clothing.

Sorry for the rant - it's just, I thought they'd be pretty easil available but it appears not.
You can get plain white everything else, why not rompers

Am due end of July/early August so am expecting weather to be quite warm as theres a geatwave forecast.

Any suggestions???

there is some plain-ish ones in mamas and papas, white/cream with neutral coloured animals

CherryPie3 · 19/05/2010 17:02

Thanks I'll have a look although I'm wanting to stay away from animal prints if possible.

Try John Lewis www.johnlewis.com/27382/Style.aspx
We are having a suprise too and I found lots of white basics for newborns there.

i got some set out to me from the uk, they were from tesco and matalan....i also bought some in mothercare and mama's and papa's, All plain and all white!

barbie1 · 19/05/2010 17:10

here also

IMoveTheStars · 19/05/2010 17:16

OP, how about these?

Not totally plain, but almost
(and I've looked at JL, The White Company, some Organic Cotton websites, jojomamanbebe etc etc)

if you just want bodysuits, that's easy - every tesco in the land sells those. if you want rompers, it's more difficult.

and I like this one a lot

CherryPie3 · 19/05/2010 17:28

Thanks everyone!!

I have plenty of plain white bodysuits, just want a pack or two of rompers to get me through the first few weeks (days).

I didn't think about Matalan, will go for a snoop on their website now. Also gonna check out the others!

Why can't things be simple?

Am looking but just thought as it gets nearer to the time could you buy a set of girls and a set of boys and just return the ones you dont need??

I do know what you mean though, both my boys only wore white for the first couple of weeks!

MrsTicklemouse · 19/05/2010 17:41

Also keep checking because there's probably new things coming in all the time at the moment!

CherryPie3 · 19/05/2010 18:05

Thanks MrsT I have thought of buying a set of girls and a set of boys but I worry in case I can't get to the store within the return period with a 5yo, a 4yo and a newborn. Think I may have my hands a little full

Jareth I really like the M&P 2pk rompers, very cute!

Will continue my search.....

pigleychez · 29/05/2010 22:27

Tesco...here

not plain white but neutural without animals on.

ReshapeWhileDamp · 30/05/2010 13:05

This from Mothercare, if that's what you meant by a romper suit? Not sure if you meant vests or not! Baby clothing terminology is maddening!

This, too, is white and 'neutral' (won't stay white for long!).

If you find some cheap'n'cheerful white ones, you could always dye them a more interesting, but still 'unisex' colour with some Dylon! (I had a lot of fun turning boring white vests into unusual-coloured outfits for DS - purple and orange and deep green, and all the other colours you can't get in the shops.)

I'm not sure I 'get' farm animal prints looking 'boyish' tbh, but each to their own!

CherryPie3 · 30/05/2010 20:27

Some brilliant suggestions here!!

lilmama I've seen the polka dot ones in Tesco and they never have newborn size ....will continue to check in there tho as they're not available online.

Will see if I can find a boots to check out those neutral ones mama

Those from M&S were gorgeous pigley - will definitely pop in tomorrow as I'm going to town - so cheap too? £8 for a 2pk? FAB!!

I loves me a good bargain...

Oh and reshape - the farm animals and boyishness probably stems from my nearly 4yo ds being obsessed with animals and farms.

Thanks for all the ideas

And another thing.....will definitely consider using dye to colour plain cheapie vests beautiful - very good idea!!
