Hi all ? first post.

I am 15 weeks pregnant and have been really trying to be very good with what I have been eating.

I am not overweight and wasn?t before I fell pregnant but had put on a stone due to having stopped smoking that I had wanted to get off before getting pregnant ? which didn?t happen!!

Some days however I just eat and eat and eat ? nothing really bad just a lot of it. I was wondering if the next day it would be ok to cut back and eat less (maybe less that my advised calories in take, to compensate for my eating too much the day before?

I am frightened of becoming massively fat but also do not want to do my baby any harm.

Any advise would be great ? I am beginning to not enjoy my pregnancy because all I can think about it how big I am getting!

Ask your midwife to refer to to dietician - they should be able help you.

Getting into a cycle of overeating/undereating is unlikely to help... If you cut back for the second day then you'll just be hungry the day after and overeat again, getting into a vicious cycle!

With an urge to graze, I would just go with it and ensure that what you're grazing on is healthy. Lots of fresh fruit and veggies: Grapes, carrot sticks, strawberries (they're yummy at the moment!), celery, etc. Very nibbly, so eat them the whole time, if you want!

It'd be a struggle to gain unhealthy weight while eating such things - and it'll be so good for you and LO in terms of vitamins and minerals! Helps keep you hydrated too, eating fresh fruit and veg, as the water content is quite high. Might also ease any pregnancy constipation a bit. Just avoid the carbs and fatty foods for snacks and limit those to mealtimes.

Don't worry about what you have eaten in the past. Absolutely nothing you can do now will change what you've eaten previously. You can't uneat something from yesterday, what's done is done so don't worry. And definitely don't punish yourself! Just take each day as it comes and do your best on each individual day. If you have a bad day, nevermind and enjoy being naughty. Draw a line under it, then continue with lots of healthy delicious foods going forwards!
