28wks, possible onset of labour and bedrest

I am 28weeks pregnant with dc2

I have been getting BH's for a good few weeks, but last week or so have got very strong with the odd painful one. Sunday we spent a bit of time in the car and i ended up having a few hours of such strong BH's that i struggled to breathe through them. They eased off throughout the evening and yesterday i had a few on and off. Last night i was very ill with an upset stomach (S&D) and contractions.

Spoke to the MW this morning who suggested i do as little as possible (bedrest if possible) I have spent most of today on the sofa with my feet up, but everytime i get up or move around my bump goes rock hard and uncomfortable. Also the baby is very active and quite violent!

Has anyone had experience of this? Did you have to be on bedrest or just told to slow down? Did the baby come early? Were there any complications?

Thanks (feeling very bored and miserable)

I am 35 weeks, and had the same symptoms yesterday. I was heaving, and had diarea, with strong contractions, dull back ache.
I felt this with DS1, so was a bit worried! I've never had braxton hicks before, so hopeing it was that, with a stomach bug?
As I feel better today.
I have an appointment anyway tommorow with the midwife, so will le you know what she tells me!
I never rest, but finished work early yesterday, and put my feet up all day and night (bliss).
Think baby is in an awkward position, as it feels rock hard, and loads of big bumps everywhere? can't figure out what is what?

Thats what i thought too. This baby is constantly shifting and i wondered if that is basically what is setting everything off. Can't help thinking it is a big baby....

My friend told me that one of her friends had her baby yesterday, 4 weeks early.
It was over 9lb!! you can imagine the look of horror on my face!!

I had similar at 22 weeks, but the contractions were very very painful. Was given bed rest for about 6 days and it all went away and i have been fine and in good health ever since. Bed rest is not my favourite thing, but DH enforced it rigidly, and it really did help.

Good luck!
