WWYD - can't make 31 week appointment, move to 30 or 32 weeks?

Under midwife led care - ante-natal client is only held on a Monday or Tuesday. 31 week appointment is due the bank holdiay week, so the only option is obviously the Tuesday.

I now have a family thing a couple of hours away that day (no appointments left at the start of the day only between 2 and 3:30).

Would you move your appointment to the week before or the week after when I'll be 32 weeks. Spoke to receptionist - can't speak direct to my own midwife due to the way our system works - who basically said it was my choice.

TIA

Unless you have some condition that needs regular monitoring I really don't think this matters at all?

I don't think many mums end up rigidly sticking to suggested appointment times. They are just a guide, although more important during the last few weeks.

I would go for the 32 week appointment unless you have any worries in which case make it a 30 week one.

All my appointments are a week and a bit later than they should be because my midwife can't add up. Meh, makes no odds really, baby will come when it comes.

Thanks, will go for the 32 weeks then as no complications and my blood pressure / pee check / measurements were all okay last week and I feel fine (well as fine as I can at 29 weeks pregnant!!)

Not sure why I'm worrying about it as I've only ever spent 5 minutes with her since my booking appointment.

Just to say you're not silly to worry about it - my midwife only does a surgery on a Tuesday afternoon so my last appointment (28 weeks) would have clashed with the bank holiday. So I went at 27 weeks instead. But she tutted and moaned about how it had put all my other appointments out, etc etc, messed up the timings for my 28 week blood tests and so on. Apparently I should have seen her on the Tuesday at the antenatal clinic instead. How was I to know? Anyway, my midwife is grumpy - I'm sure yours won't be!

Emster30 · 18/05/2010 19:32

I meant she only does Monday afternoons at my GP surgery, not Tuesdays!

Emster - gutting that you have a grumpy midwife, not what you want when your pregnant! I see two - one lovely, one totally neurotic who I avoid at all costs

I know, blimming annoying! I have seen two different ones and the other one is LOVELY so I think she makes up for it... Hopefully I'll see her next time. Actually my next appointment is meant to be with the GP at 33 weeks, I'm not sure what will happen at that one.

JamieJay · 18/05/2010 20:29

I cheat - I'm supposed to see the neurotic one on a Monday but generally try and make appointments for a Tuesday so I can get the lovely one

Don't have any appointments with GP around here, hope yours is uneventful.
