Anyone seen any nice maternity dresses suitable for a July wedding?

(I mean as a guest, not the bride, btw!)

Have so far looked online at:
Next
Blooming Marvellous
JoJo
Vertbaudet
Mothercare

and there is NOTHING nice! I thought a maternity maxi-dress would be great but they all seem to be a bit too beachy and not smart enough.

Hi.

So far I have bought nearly all my maternity clothes from New Look. They are all getting filled to capacity at the moment though and I've still got 17 weeks left, so had a look on their website again last night and they have two nice dresses imo and one of them was a maxi dress.

Hope this helps.

Jacksmybaby · 18/05/2010 15:14

Thanks sassy, do you mean this one?

It's nice but they only have it in a size 16 (I am 10/12, probably a 12 in new look).

Thanks anyway. (And good recommendation re NL website generally, the maternity selection in store is useless, there's much more on their website.)

I got a nice one at Gap last year

sassy34264 · 18/05/2010 15:20

Yes I did. Sorry didn't see it only said size 16 left. (i'm a 10/12 too)
I quite like the paisley one as well, but not sure it's really glamorous enough for a wedding. I'm sat here in a maternity dress I got from the Red herring maternity collection in Debenhams- not suitable for a wedding but you could see if they have anything else.
The choice for maternity wear is a bit rubbish I have to say. I have scoured the land!!! ASOS have quite a large collection from memory as well. Good luck.

I bought this for a wedding next month.

They have some lovely stuff on that site but a lot of it was quite pricey, that one wasn't too bad though, esp as I had a voucher code.

whittywan · 18/05/2010 15:24

Always have nice things, if a bit pricey

withorwithoutyou · 18/05/2010 15:24

Sorry, didn't see you wanted a maxi dress.

this?

Hello

I'm going to be a bridesmaid at a wedding in July when I'll be 6 months pg. I found there were some lovely dresses on this site:

www.cravematernity.co.uk/categories/Dresses/

I'm wearing the blue grecian dress as Bridesmaid, but there are some other lovely ones on here. They did fairly quick delivery too and good customer service. Hope this helps!

Jacksmybaby · 18/05/2010 15:28

Thanks all.

withorwithoutyou, not definitely a maxi just thought it might be nice and there would be loads of choice (wrong!). Actually prefer the first one of your seraphine links, more weddingy. Like it in the turquoise.

whittywan LOVE the "glamour maxi" but too expensive!

Jacksmybaby · 18/05/2010 15:35

Thanks.

piesey those are nice - like both the blue and cerise Grecian ones.

Debenhams have 3 dresses. I really like the sun dress but I'm not pg!

Sarahlou8 · 18/05/2010 15:46

A friend of mine bought a really lovely dress from Asos (online) and it was beautiful.
I havent looked on there myself but she says it's really good and not too expensive.

piesey · 18/05/2010 15:48

Glad you like them! The colours are lovely and the fabric is good - the inside bit is soft and stretchy and the floaty layer is nice and you don't have to iron it which is key as the wedding I'm going to is in the US so I have to get it over there. And I hate ironing!

Sarahlou8 · 18/05/2010 16:02

Hi again, just had a look at Asos myself, the one my friend had was the Chiffon corsage babydoll dress, and there are several lovely maxi dresses on there too.

Jacksmybaby · 18/05/2010 16:37

Ooh, great tip re ASOS, had no idea they did maternity stuff - lots of really lovely things on there!

I'm going to be 38 weeks at a wedding in July so I'm not sure anything's going to look nice but I've been mulling over this one.

Nikalah · 18/05/2010 16:50

This dress arrived today and it fits fabulously - I've 3 weddings and a Christening to go to in the next 6 weeks - so it will get it's usage. Looks fabulous on!

Jacks - you beat me to the post! - I have to find something for my sister's wedding in July, will now look through the thread

ktwiltshire · 18/05/2010 17:34

have you tried ebay?

bimbobrown2002 · 18/05/2010 19:59

Another vote for ASOS, I ordered three for a wedding we have in a few weeks, delivery was free and I returned the two I didn't need and am so happy with the one I have kept. Also ordered a more casual dress for other occassions, both were under £25 but you would never know!

MissHairspray · 18/05/2010 21:02

Yep, another vote for ASOS. I was having a nightmare buying for a wedding this weekend, bought this dress and it is pretty nice. The quality isn't amazing but it was only £35 and I figure I can spruce it up a bit with some nice accessories. The sizing seems quite small though, so would recommend getting a couple of sizes to try - won't cost you anything extra.

It's so hard finding nice maternity clothes though at the best of times, never mind for a wedding!

diznom · 18/05/2010 22:35

I can recommend ASOS too, they do free returns and I ordered about 8 on the credit card and just chose 1 and sent the rest back. Got this one for sister in laws wedding in june www.asos.com/Asos/Asos-Maternity-Exclusive-Jersey-Wrap-Bust-Maxi-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?i id=871160&cid=5813&Rf-100=Dresses+-+Evening,Dresses+-+Day&sh=0&pge=1&pgesize=20&sort=-1&clr=RebelRed
best thing about it is its really comfy and stretchy so plenty of room for expansion.
