OK, I am really struggling to explain what this feels like, but I am 21 weeks pg, and it really feels like the baby is kicking me in the cervix! Is this even physically possible? I'm getting these mad, strong flutters, which are bordering on the painful, really low down in the centre of my abdomen. I had a couple yesterday afternoon, and now a few in the last hour.

Its really sensitive and horrible and its freaking me out! I briefly and suddenly feel like I'm going to wet myself even though I don't need the toilet, and every time I get it I leap about ten feet in the air! Its not "pain" so much as massive sensitivity that hurts. What is going on??? I don't like it!

Sorry this probably makes no sense at all. This is my first baby and I am so ridiculously ignorant.

Heeeeeeeelp!

Oh bless ya

I felt kicks so low down, I thought a foot was coming out of my fanjo

Its normal, but it may reassure you to ask your midwife about it x

I had this with DS not experienced it yet this time but know exactly what you mean about wanting to leap in the air. It used to take my breath away but wasn't necessarily painful. Very odd. I nearly dropped to floor with it crossing a very busy road outside St Thomas'. Luckily DH had hold of my arm at the time. Could have been very dangerous not to mention

I have had it a lot with this baby but don't remember it with my first (although there is a surprising amount I don't remember!). This baby is very active, it's not painful but does make me jump and it does take my breath away sometimes too, certainly not the most pleasant kicks. Try not to worry but ring your midwife if you are, that's what they are there for- a 2 minute conversation could totally put you at ease

Sounds like it might be kicking your bladder which is right underneath the baby.

pixiestix · 18/05/2010 14:11

Oh, thank you, thank you!!

I feel much happier now. Its so hard not knowing if its just run of the mill stuff or if my waters are going to suddenly break 19 weeks early
I want to lie on the floor in the middle of the office when it happens - don't know how my colleagues would react!
I had the vague (and most probably wrong)idea that the bladder was more towards the side of the body, and this is dead centre, but it does feel definitely bladder related Jacksmybaby.

I really should brush up on my biology a bit more to stop me freaking out!

definitely normal - had in all pregnancies including current one - weird, uncomfortable kicks straight down into cervix. Always makes me jump/cry out. Then try & explain to DH what it feels like & end up sounding like carzy woman.

kickassangel · 18/05/2010 14:15

dd used my bladder as a trampoline - we saw her doing it when i went for a scan. it felt like 'i'm wetting myelf, oh i'm ok, i'm wetting myself, oh i'm ok' and was a horrible, 'odd' feeling, not so much painful as like when you knock your elbow or are sitting awkwardly. only, of course, you're not used to feeling that there, so it's even worse.

Jacksmybaby · 18/05/2010 14:18

Just checked in my "pregnancy week by week" book and in the picture the bladder is pretty much in the middle, right underneath the baby!

Does anyone else know what I mean when I say it's like the feeling you get when you stick your finger right into your belly button - or is that just me being a freak?!

IlooklikeGrotbagstoday · 18/05/2010 14:30

hahaha when i get my belly button back i'll let you know.

pixiestix · 18/05/2010 14:33

Yep, all three of those definitins are pretty much spot on! Its so madly hard to put into words how weird it is!!

I have been having lots of nice, normal kicks up to now, in the middle and sides of my abdomen - just what I was expecting before I got pg. I don't like this new kind at all!

I feel so much better now. And have learnt where my bladder is! Productive thread!!

I am surprised at how painful some of these kicks are too! I'm 20 weeks and she must be using my bladder as a trampoline too as I have to wee ALL the time. I was convinced I had a UTI but doc said no, you're just pregnant. I really didn't expect the loss of bladder control to come this early! There is no stopping me!
