I am feeling quite panicky. Am being sick up to 15 times a day for the last 4 weeks (am 9 wks). Doctors gave me anti sickness tablets but made me feel worse. Have had to take time off work as impossible to get there never mind do work. Feel like I am going out of my mind and scared starving baby of proper nutrients!

Dont worry Ive had terrible sickness through my previous 2 pregnancies and now again with my 3rd the doctors told me that the baby will take all the nutrients that you have. Im also of work feeling to rubbish. Anti sickness drugs did nothing for me either.I just try to eat light as much as possible(which isnt easy when most foods make me heave) drinking sips through a straw to keep hydrated through the day helps as well.

Thanks feel relieved about nutrients for baby but feel sorry for myself. Lucky I seem to be able to keep down liquid.

It sounds like you have hyperemesis. You need to go back to the doctor.

merlin8878 · 17/05/2010 18:51

Which tablets are you on? I'm on cyclizide but there are others available.

Its good that you can keep liquids down (not much consolation I know).

Can you go back to your doctor and ask them to try you on a different tablet? My doctor also signed me off too (have been off since 14 weeks, now 22 weeks)

There are some other threads about on hyperemesis, they might be useful for you.

I was sick for 21 weeks with DS2 - I found that sea-sickness wrist bands really helped. Hope you feel better soon.

Tablets are Valoid tablets (cyclizine hydrochroride) but did not stop sickness and gave me severe dizziness and double vision.
Yuk!

Hi, poor you. I really feel for you. I've been in and out of hospital all the way through (now 23 weeks) with hyperemesis. Like Merlin said, go back to your doctor if you can and ask about other tablets, they say it's really a case of experimenting to find the right one or combination for each person. I'm on a lovely cocktail of cyclazine, metoclopramide and ranitidine now which seems to be helping a little- I was so adamant I didn't want anything but taking them is the only thing that means I can keep anything down and stay out if hospital.
As has already been said, don't worry about the baby. They say that it will keep taking all the nutrients it needs and it's you that feels worse.
Good luck, it's so hard to keep spirits up but the 'hyperemesis awareness' thread on here is very, very supportive and a great place to have a moan! X
