pot bellies and bumps

Before I got PG I had a small round pot belly. I'd toned up and slimmed down to a size 12 pre-conception, and was feeling pretty damn good - but the pot belly remained. And now I am 9+5 and the pot belly is, erm, bigger.

(In fact if I arch my back and stick it out I can get seats on the tube. Does anyone else have this? It's my first so I shouldn't really look like I have a bump at less than 10 weeks should I? But my clothes are too tight round my waist and I'm into floaty dresses already)

Anyway, my question is: once the bump starts to expand, what will happen? Will I have a bump with a layer of wobbly fat on the top?

Or will the fat get stretched out and my belly bump be taut? Will the fact that I have a spare tyre/pot belly now mean I am less likely to get stretch marks?

Any thoughts?

I've always had a little 'tummy' even when I was a size 10 and used to console myself with the thought that when I was pregnant, baby would use that up! However (both times) baby has happily used my fat-layer as a sort of blanket and it's never gone anywhere! It did get stretched out at the end, but then when I lost the weight it came right back!

Just the same as me - size 10-12 normally, but with a little belly that has never ever been flat... I've been feeling like I look several weeks ahead of my pregnancy. (From about 8 weeks onwards!)

I'm 14 and a half weeks now and definitely have a little bump - but it's definitely not firm...I guess it'll provide a little blanket for the baby and go right back to 'normal'next year....

Glad to know its not just me

33 weeks and my little pot belly is still there, nice and soft just below the hard stretched bit that takes up most of my bump. My sister calls it her "baby protector".

Thanks for the info!

I'm glad to know it's not just me too!! I'm 9+5 also today, and Miffster your post is exactly the same for me!!

Haven't tried sticking it out a bit more to get a seat on the tube though, hmmmm, that's a good idea, may as well put it to use!

Will be glad when I have a firm bump rather than this. My brother calls it a "mummy tummy" which I always thought was quite funny.
