I am 23 wks pregant. I have had really bad stomach cramps for a few weeks now with diahoerra. About 6pm last night I came over sickie then I had horrendoeus chest pain. I collapsed to the floor and had pain in my left side of stomach area side. I couldn't move off the floor. till it had passed which was nearly 30 mins. The pain was as painful as when I had Gall stones. I know it isn't that as had Gall Bladder out. It really scared me. I still don't feel right. Haven't had much of an appetite lately either. My chest still has niggly pains and feels bruised.
I have had anxiety attacks lately aswell.

Have you spoken to anyone? I would ring dr/ midwife straight away. Hope you are ok now xx

ktwiltshire · 15/05/2010 10:18

i think you need to see a doctor asap, call up the midwives or the maternity day unit and ask theyre advice, they will probably tell you to come in for an assessment, see if they can find out whats wrong and help you out.
i was going to suggest gall stones, but as youve had that out, maybe not, kidney stones?

either way, call a HCP asap and get some advice, hope everythings ok

I am still getting pains today but nowhere near as bad as yesterday. I feel quite poorly.

i think you should call the out of hours GP. Or do you feel so poorly you can't face doing it?

danniied13 · 15/05/2010 10:37

The pains are in my chest and on and off in my back and side. I am exhausted I have 3 kids one of which has behavioural problems. I just want to go back to bed.

you need to call the out of hrs GP or the maternity unit, its not worth ignoring something like that. is there someone who can make the phone call for you, and get someone out to see you?

catbus · 15/05/2010 10:45

You really need to get medical advice now, not be on here. It's not worth it. Call the MW unit or out of hours GP. Push for them coming to you if you feel awful.

weegiemum · 15/05/2010 10:54

I had kidney stones in pregnancy and it was awful. It doesn't sound exactly like this, but like enough to make me wonder if this is what you have.

Chest pain is always concerning.

You need to contact OOH GP or the Maternity unit and get assessed.

If it is a kidney stone they will likely give you antibiotics in case it is formed by infection (quite common in pregnancy), lots of fluids (including possibly IV) and painkillers.

Don't be afraid to take strong painkillers if you need them. An anaesthetist told me once that the stress hormones caused by pain and anxiety are more dangerous for the baby than morphine!

Hope you feel better soon!!!

LooL00 · 15/05/2010 10:56

if you don't have the number of your out of hours service call your GP and then it should be on the answering machine.

danniied13 · 18/05/2010 18:34

I have seen a doctor and he seems to think it is anxiety. He asked if I was stressed. I said yes. What with just being diagnosed with MS and then told I have symptoms of Fibromylagia aswell. Then having to fight the DLA. Then worrying as will be without my car at the end of June so will be housebound. Not including being 24 wks pregnant with 3 boys at 7,4 and 2. YES I AM STRESSED.

So I am still getting chest pains but will have to live with it till baby is here. Then can go back on all my meds. Now just got to sort my kidneys out.

This may sound odd but you can still have gallstones without having a gallbladder as there is still a certain amount of pipework remaining in which new stones can form. This happened to my gran. I'm not being funny but why do Docs seem to put certain things down to anxiety alone? What side are your chest pains?

MadameCheese · 18/05/2010 22:48

I presume you told your Doc about the back and side pain, was it on the right side? Hope you're ok.

danniied13 · 19/05/2010 06:52

The chest pain is left and sometimes centre. The back pain is where my kidneys are and shoulder blades. My side pain is on the left.
I think side and kidney pain is urine and kidney infection. I never know I've got an urine infection untill it hits my kidneys. I will have a word with midwife tomorrow about it all.

I did wonder about whether you could still get gall stones even though you have no gall bladder.

You've still got plenty of ducts in that area in which they can form, the liver makes the components of bile so it is still possible. Hope you get it sorted, sounds really miserable to be in constant pain, still regarding your doctor's diagnosis. Can you ask for an ultrasound of that area?
