Can i do my 20 wk scan in France?

I m due for amy 20wk scan in july, 2010 and want to go to France. Got a EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) as well. Do i have to pay for my scan while i m in France? How does it work? Please guide.tnx :-)

It wont be a problem to do your scan (ecographie)in France in principle - you can just call up a cabinet radiologie and make an appointment. It will probably cost about 79 euros - you just pay them directly. If you want to be able to claim it back then you'll need to go to see a doctor first in France to get a treatment form for the scan - (the doctors visit will cost up to 25 euros)- claiming that back could be a reall faff - to be honest and will have to be done in the UK.

Unless you're in France for ages then I think it would probably be easier to just re-arrange your appointemt in the UK. If you do decide to do th escan in France remember to take your your earlier scan and all your maternity notes as the French radiographer will want to look over them first.
