Finish mid August and start mat leave end of Sept or have my (already booked) 2 weeks in August then work 1/2/3 days in September and use those days of leave earlier on. I already have some time off in June, a day off in july (loads of people off so I can't take any more) and 1 1/2 days in August before my 2 weeks off.

Am v bored and off sick hence the sitting with a calender and calculator

hi Nymph! I have leave to take too, mine runs from may to may so going to tack some onto the end of mat leave, is that an option for you? how far in advance do you hve to book it? mybe see how you feel closer to the time?

Nymphadora · 13/05/2010 14:59

I'm April to April and not going back til next Sept so not an option. I'll have to use some before I go back too as I'll have too much.

Doesnt have to be massively in advance but trying to spread it out and not having a lot of time to spread it over . I also have flexi to use.

I worked short weeks when I was pg with ds1, so booked off some Mondays and Fridays in the run up to me finishing properly.

It made it seem a lot less tiring doing 3 or 4 day weeks.

Can your work not give you the money instead? My work are giving me the holiday pay instead of me taking it, which will help pay for 2 months more maternity leave once ds is here, if that makes sense (because i'll be on half pay, so will go twice as far).

RooBear · 13/05/2010 15:53

in that case then I would go down the fri and monday route like iwish recommends.

Nymphadora · 13/05/2010 17:07

I already work 2 1/2 days and am making them shorter alternate weeks (dropping the half day)

Cant take the money!

In that case, just stop as soon as you can and enjoy having the time to yourself.

You wil never get time like this again - so be very indulgent

Definately try and take the holiday before!! My DS was a preemie at 33 weeks and I was still at work, so had no time off beforehand. It was very tiring however did get exactly the year off with him. I'm due for no.2 in Oct 10! Finshing work in a couple of weeks forever to be a SAHM yippee!!! Shame I can't have a drink to celebrate lol!

floozietoozie · 13/05/2010 23:13

I'd go for the holiday before too. Particularly as you've been having the dizzy spells now, you might just need the rest by then.

Boatgirlie, my ds was 31 wks prem so I was in the same situation. I envy, envy, envy you giving up work!

I keep thinking that this way I get more time withdh & kids as they are all on school hols but I get bored v quickly at home and once they are back at school I'm on my own!
