Hello, i'm 21 weeks and have so far had a really great first pregnancy. I've been told by the midwife i have low iron which i know is fine and absolutley normal and am taking iron tabs three times a day. My question is for the last couple of weeks i've been getting increasingly tired, and taking what seems forever to wake up. I thought in this period i was supposed to be glowing, at this rate i'll sleep though the whole bloody thing. I know that this is a tiny gripe compared to what some other members are experiencing, but if anyone has any insight or advice i'd really appreciate it.

Many thanks
x

i think the iron tablets can take a couple of weeks to build up enough to make a difference so don't lose hope yet!

Yes the glowing passed me by with both of my pregnancies too! Iron tablets do take a few days to kick in but the tiredness might just be caused by the fact that your baby is going through a particularly fast phase of growth. Babies grow in fits and starts and despite all the books telling you that you will feel like you could climb a mountain in your 2nd trimester I'm afraid that sometimes you will feel a bit cack. And very tired!

It all comes and goes I'm afraid - try to enjoy it and rest as much as you reasonably can. Daytime naps are ace if you can manage it!

I'm 22 weeks pregnant & have no idea what the radiant & glowing bit must be like. I didn't suffer with any morning sickness & I've had a pretty smooth & easy pregnancy so far but I look like the living dead! My skin's pale & I've developed black panda circles around my eyes! I'm exhausted all the time too. I've gone nocturnal, if its sunny & bright, I'm out for the count, if it's dark & quiet, I'm wide awake & lurking about the shadows like some weird pregnant vampire! Haha. Midwife reckons it could be the baby keeping me up at night coz for some reason he kicks holes in me all night long & is as quiet as a mouse in the daytime! But I too am longing for the "energy filled" second trimester coz so far I just look like a zombie!
