Dodgy guts = Labour sign?

So I woke up this morning - am now 38 weeks - and had a terrible bout of dodgy guts a couple of times (sorry-tmi). Feeling ok now and nothing since.

Has this happened to anyone else and was it the start of labour? I know that it was for a friend. Just interested in thoughts.

Thanks

With ds1, I had a bout of runny-tummy the day before he was born.
Ds2 was induced so I went whist delivering

that did make me laugh silverymoon... I'm sure it was the least of your worries at the time though. Thanks for posting.

Yes it was.
I asked the midwife and dp if I'd done it and they all said no. Was all very discreet. Dp promised me we would never talk about it, but I'm ok about it now and just laugh.
The midwives have seen it all before.

Goodluck

i had diahroea the day before i went into natural labour with #2, a little bit of tummy ache with it, but just diahroea really. good luck, 38 weeks is perfectly fine to go into labour!

wigglybeezer · 11/05/2010 18:19

happened to me with both my natural labours, (I remember sitting on the loo having twinges and clutching a bucket on my lap!).

lollypop101 · 11/05/2010 18:21

I don't want to get too excited about it, I mean who would get excited about a dodgy tummy usually ha ha, but it is exciting to think it may happen sooner rather than later.

Thanks girls.

I had the trots and rang the midwife who told me it was a sign, I went straight in and DD was born 2 hours and 5 minutes later glad I rang but don't know what made me ring.
Good luck.

I threw up last night (joy). Had a mw appointment today, mentioned it to her in passing as feel fine now. She said "Hmm, you are getting strong BH too, I think this baby wants to make an early appearance."

lollypop101 · 11/05/2010 18:28

Oh this is exciting. Funny isn't it how our bodies have a clearout when ready to go into labour.... ha ha

ooh, have had the runs for week and a half now and very strong braxton hicks and no baby yet, only 36 weeks though. Very painful SPD so won't mind if he comes early at all, ouch!! good luck!

Flossbert · 11/05/2010 18:58

I was really paranoid about pooing during labour, so i don't know if my subconscious had a part to play, but i had to dash to the loo pretty much as soon as my waters broke, and then another two times before we went to hospital . DD was born later that day.

(still did a rabbit poo in the birthing pool though!)

good luck - how exciting!!

lollypop101 · 11/05/2010 19:23

I'm still waiting so doubt mine will happen as quickly as you flossbert.

Got MW appointment tomo so will be interesting to see where the baby is now lying.
