Hiya ...

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing really bad headaches at this stage? This is my 3rd pregnancy and never had this with other 2 ... is it ok to take paracetamol?

Im thinking i should be drinking more water, but i drink gallons already!

Thanx

I had DREADFUL headaches at about 6-9 weeks. They were crippling. I thought I had a brain tumour!

Paracetamol is fine, ibuprofen and aspirin are not.

I was scared of taking too much paracetamol though so only took 1 tablet at a time rather than my normal 2. Of course 1 tablet doesn't even touch a really bad headache, so I was taking it for no reason!

I don't think you can do much about the headaches really. Try a cold compress. I liked leaning my head against a cold pane of glass.

Sleep whenever you can. You can't feel pain when you're asleep!

Thats what I was thinking, dont want to take 2 paracetamol at a time incase im drugging myself ... I will try 1 and see if there is any difference...

Just read on internet it can be caused by hormones and is quite common so just need to put up with it by the looks of it!

Oh and I will try and sleep as much as possible!!! LOL

thanks for the reply, appreciated! xx

I had them last time and have them again this time, spoke to GP and midwife and they both said paracetamol fine, but don't exceed the dose on the packet and yes apparently they tend to be hormone related. - flippin hormones have a lot to answer for!

Not sure if you've cut down or cut out caffeine but that?s what seemed to cause my headaches - I started having a cup of caffeinated tea once a day and my headaches stopped. Although I really would have liked to cut out caffeine altogether I felt a cup of tea would be better than taking paracetamol as often as I would have needed.... it?s worth a try!

I used to drink 5 cups a day ( sit in an office all day so just habit) but when i found out i was pregnant i cut this down to one and sometimes none a day...

mmm wonder if theres a link to that maybe??

coming off the caffeine or drinking a fair amount less can definitly cause headaches, caffeine withdrawl. if it is that, it will pass soon when the caffeiene finally leaves your system. i would suggest cutting it out completely, then it gives your body a chance to adjust properly, you dont want to be having really bad headaches on and off because your body is all confused with caffeien!!

also caffeiene can cause slight dehydration, so if you werent drinking much else, then id suggest topping up with water/squash, but it sounds like your drinking plenty to make up the difference.

paracetamol is perfectly fine, i wouldnt worry about taking a few doses, it wont harm the baby
