Hi ladies,

I thought i would post this in pregnancy as most ladies on here are pregnant and may be able to help with my question about positives on pregnancy tests.

Me and DH are ttc baby no3, im currently on the dreaded 2ww.

With my first 2 babies plus an early MC i had 2 months back i tested early and got BFP about 4/5 days before AF was due.

I tested this morning (af due sat) and got a horrible BFN just woundering if thats it really, or has any woman who previously tested positive early got a late one before?

from a very excited but also upset mummy.

Sorry to hear of your loss xkatyx

I think it's best to wait til you're actually due (or even better, a couple of days late if you can bear it), IMO, just so it avoids all the 'well maybe I'll test positive tomorrow' type worry.

Of course, it is possible to get an early negative and then test positive, and I imagine due to your MC it makes it worse.

Good luck!

I had an early negative (3 days before on a supposedly test early kit) and got a positive 1 day after AF due

DD1 tested positive 12 dpo and with this one got negatives five, four and one day before period due. Got a BFP one day after due. I did 'feel' pregnant though so that's why I kept testing.

Oh that i reasuring then, i thought because previously i got a BFP early, i thought it would be the same this time.

Its just so deppressing the waiting.

What gingerbaby said. Hormone levels can vary, as can the sensitivity of different brands of test. I know it's very hard, but it would save you a lot of angst (and a bit of money too) if you can wait until you're actually late to test. I was 18 months ttc DS1, and I had to impose this rule on myself after a little while as it was getting daft. Good luck to you - if this isn't your month, hope the BFP you want is along soon

Same here. Tested negative twice before I was due (or when I thought I was even a couple of days overdue!) and the first positive that I got was on day 36 or so of my cycle. It's better to wait to be honest rather than being disappointed at this stage. It all depends on the length and regularity of your cycle as well as hcg levels. Good luck!

Hi
Sorry to hear of your m/c.
With DD2 I tested the day before AF due and got negative; felt nauseous the next day and tested again and got a BFP.
I would honestly wait until AF due or late to try and side step the disappointment.

To be honest though it's such a minefield; I tested 2 days early this month got a BFP and started bleeding the day after AF due last week but still getting positive tests and pg symptoms - we are also TTC #3. Waiting to be seen at EPAU tomorrow due to complications in previous m/c. I really wish with all my heart I had just waited to test because it would have been no more than a late period.

Good luck! x

Thank you everyone,

elnmummy i had the same 2 months ago BFP on the monday (was due on the folling fri) so really early got BFP all week and a lovely "pregnant1-2 weeks" on the digital then bleeding , i agree it was horrible because if i had not tested so early i never would have known BUT now i see it as i want to know this time incase it's something that keeps happening i will want to know IYSWIM.

I wish you the best of luck at the EPAU tommrow if it helps when i started bleeding i was having negatives straight away so a positove test is very reasuring as woman have bleeds all the time and lovely healthy babies.

Sorry to hear of your loss - sure to put you more on edge.

Well I echo what the others say. With my first I tested the day my period was due and got a big strong positive line. This second time round I tested when my period was 2 days late (usually 29 day cycle - sometimes 31 at the latest). Did it with a digital and got a negative. Gutted as was sure I was pregnant and my period was late - tested two days later (1 day after the latest day my period would have been) A line took about 5 mins to appear and could only be seen by squinting! Tested the day after and slightly darker. It ended up taking 21DPO for me to get a strong positive (I'm 9 weeks now and had a scan the other week and all fine) so don't give up hope till AF arrives. Good luck!! xx
