hi,
last night i turned my ankle on my doormat and was unable to stop from landing on the floor, hitting head on wall badly enough for dh to come running. i think i turned myself enough to avoid landing on my ready to burst belly and baby was quite active for an hour or so afterwards. i have been unable to sleep though with pains in my forearm and knuckles and this area is also burning hot. i cant put any presssure on it at all and it is my leading arm. do you think i need medical attention or am i paranoid?

I would go and see someone. Can you get a GP appointment? or do you have a local walk in centre?

I would certainly get checked out.. you might have hurt your arm and possibly need it x raying .. sounds painful... and you hit your head! poor you, definitely get seen today.. x

best to get things checked out, i would give your midwife a call and ask her to come round and do a quick check. if nothing else it will put your mind at rest.

i had a fall down the stairs when i was about 27 weeks with my DC2 and i had to go into hospital for a few days, but thats because they wanted to make sure it didnt put me into early labour. at 38+5 you would be perfectly fine if it shocked your body into labour, baby would be perfectly fine.

good luck, i hope a call to your midwife will ease your concerns

How are you homebirthmummy4 ?

homebirthmummy4 · 11/05/2010 13:48

hi ande.
i have soft tissue bruising and a bit of a strain so thankfully nothing serious.it will just be a matter of waiting a couple of days to get full mobility back. baby is fine and still determined to stay put. in one way i am very glad ie, no harm done, but in another i would be very happy to birth this baby right now. thank you so much for your interest it is lovely when people care

I fell over in the street when I was 40 weeks preg with my first son. I was so upset and worried about the baby but he was fine. It didn't even bring on my labour. (He was 8 days late). They are very well cushioned in there.

He is now a strapping 10 year old who is arguing about getting in the shower!!

Hope you heal up soon. good luck with the labour etc.
