Strange hernia style vertical lump in tummy?!

I have the most horrible feeling that this is seperated abdominal muscles.

The lump is like a line (about 1 finger thick) that goes from under my breast bone and continues to my belly button. Ive made an appointment at the docs because this is my first and I thought this happened in 2nd or 3rd pregnancies?!

Im quite a tubster, so you cant see it yet. But Im worried when my belly is at full stretch my bump will look deformed!!!

Has anyone else suffered from this? Any words of advice? I know you cant make it better before the birth, but I just dont want to make it worse!

Sounds like seperated muscles - I got them with my first pregnancy and again this time round. I was told not to sit up from lying down without rolling onto my side first and sitting up sidewards (IYSWIM) no sit-up like movements. Mine took about 6 weeks post birth to close up with the help of exercises from a physio.

Thankyou SO much!

I feel much better knowing that the physio worked afterwards, as alot of what you read on the net just recommends surgery (which I'm not really down with)

Thats great, thanks again!
