brown discharge - TMI alert!!

OK, so at 11w 1d, the brown discharge has returned. It's a kind of mid-brown, darker than beige, but not dark brown. I had spotting at 8w too, and it lasted for 2 weeks, and the worrying was hell.

NOW, here comes TMI... I have realised that BOTH times that this brown discharge started, at 8w and at 11w 1d, I had an orgasm the day before, and this discharge has appeared approx 34hrs later.

Is it at all possible that this could be the link...? It seems too much of a coincidence that the two times I have had an orgasm have both been 34 hrs before brown discharge began.

We have not had sex since before I found out I was pregnant, as I have felt too unwell (and too nervous to).

Not sure re;orgasm!! However, my MW said that it's common around these times for the body to attempt to have a 'period'. I spotted/ had brown discharge around these times too, and was very worried. Now 22 wks and no sign of any more. HTH..

thanks, catbus, I had wondered about this too. In fact, looking back at the dates, it was 8 weeks and 11w5d since LMP that I had spotting (my scan at 9 weeks changed my dates by a few days).

I didnt have any spotting at 4 weeks, tho - did you?

No, no spotting then; just around the 8 and 11 wk mark. Can be v.worrying. You should be having a scan soon??? So I hope this helps you relax a bit! Strange what our bodies can do to our minds!

Hi I had this at about 20 weeks with ds2 went to hospital where they did an internal and was told that if you've had sex it's probably just cervical erosion and if it's brown it's old blood and nothing to worry about

hth

Was half way through typing when battery went!! I was just going to echo what has been said, I spotted at 4, 7 and 9 weeks and my doctor said it was my body trying to have a period. Am now 16 weeks and have been fine since then. I know how worrying it is though! xx

vmcd28 · 09/05/2010 12:10

thanks, all. I've had 2 miscarriages, so anything that doesnt look "normal" is just horrifying. And each day seems to drag by, just hoping that everything is ok.
I had a scan at 9w and there was a strong, fast HB, and I heard the HB on Friday, so I just cant bear the thought of something being "wrong" now...

how long did you all have this spotting for? At 8 weeks, mine was there constantly for 9 days, and took a further 5 days to very gradually stop. Just seems a long time to me...

Each one varied; a few days up to a week. I have also had 2 MCs and am still having trouble relaxing now sometimes, until I feel a kick! This is number 4 so you think I would have learnt! It does feel long at the time, but use your MW for any reassurance you can get. Hopefully, you'll look back on this in a not very long while, whilst being kicked in the ribs, and think phew! Good luck and good vibes coming your way..

I lost my last one at 15 weeks, although I spotted throughout that one, I've also spotted with this one and it's fine (touch wood)
Mine has only ever lasted a few hours, but the flow at times has been quite heavy. Are you still going to get a scan at 12 weeks?

vmcd28 · 09/05/2010 18:36

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, sarahlou. I cant imagine getting that far (to the "safe" stage) then it going wrong. I am waiting for my scan date to come in. How far along are you this time?

I am feeling really nauseous today, and it's all starting to get me down now, to be honest. I've struggled to get to this stage, and I almost daren't even think about what could happen now.
