Hello clever ladies.x

I am 40 weeks tomorrow with my first baby and should the little sausage decide not to arrive by next thursday my midwide said she'd do a membrane sweep for me. She described it as an uncomfortable internal. hmmm.

what is it exactly that she will be doing pray tell?

Thanking you in advance.

Sorry - just to correct my last post - just been told by my friend who I was chatting to on the phone whilst typing this that a sticky pink mucousy goo sounded like the type of show she had - so it sounds like it may have worked! Hopefully those twinges will start soon - better get the TENS machine ready to go....! Good luck and hope things go well xx

Just come back to this thread, wow, mouseplus, hope things are moving for you.

And good luck madcatsazz too. I forget how it feels to be hugely PG and really wishing it would get a move-on!

By way of an update.

The bloody sweep hasn't bloody worked and I'm bloody miffed.

over 48 hours have now passed since the 'looking for a sock in a washing machine' episode and not so much as a twitch.

Been on a lovely day out today to try and see if fate would intervene if I went further afield but alas not bloody likely.

Mum goes home on Monday and then its just me and DH.

can't believe my mum isnt going to be there after all of her support, seeing baby being born was her reward for putting up with a nagging pain in the arse daughter.

fingers crossed for tonight as I suppose there is still time.

Aw, mouseplus, sending labour vibes to you. Sorry about your mum not being there. It's such a nightmare isn't it?! My sweep failed on Thursday as well which was v disheartening and I have even resorted to doing the deed to no avail. Poor DP has been a real trooper, performing on command although neither one of us has been in the mood. Anyhoo, we need to console ourselves by thinking in the long run, it will not matter. 6 months from here, we'll be holding our babies, tearing our hair out with sleepless nights, bags under our eyes, baggy tummys, sick on one shoulder and we'll wonder about this 'golden time'!!

Hey I'm 40 + 4 and had my membrane sweep today
it was the most degrading and awful experience ever!
I mean I have a very HIGH pain threshold having just got over kidney stones at 34 weeks pregnant and being in hospital for well over a week waiting to pass them it was the worst ordeal, bad enough having that and not being pregnant!
Anyway my sweep experience was so painful as my cervix is apparently very high still and completely closed so my mw couldn't perform the actual sweeping action that she set out to do but afterwards I felt very tender and tbh like I'd been molestered!! I had to go to bed as my stomach was very crampy I woke up a few hours later to find I'd bled everywhere I also passed a few blood clots (sorry tmi) and now I'm being booked in to be induced on Monday as I refuse to have another sweep!
Just hope it works or that baby comes before induction day as I don't want to end up needing a c section!!
